It was the mini cooper and not the Maybachs. All the Maybachs were through the company and not by a private dealer. The person at Toyato Tech is a friend of mine and an importer and dealer of cars. The mini cooper is up for sale now.

Toyato the guy (father) made claim to a friend about this! The same friend informed of the latest DRI issue as well.

His main client was (is?) the ghutka guy for whom he (father) stated to me he as supplied many cars since 1998.

That would be a tall claim. The Gutka guys Maybach was delivered to him by the Head of MBIL India at the pune plant. Pictures were in the papers and in some magazines too. It was also the first official Maybach sold in India. The Mini was sold to the Gutka guy and this car had come into problems. All papers of the car is clear now

But dosen't used cars attract more duty compared to new cars.

@agent4ferrari,
Since you are in this line of business, what is the actual difference in offcial duties for used and new cars.

Percentage wise its approx 80% but the base values on which they are calculated is different. Former is on MSRP, the later is on RDV. Im not really in the used car business.

Not sure what you want polled can you clarify as my understanding is that any medium/social platform is meant for info and transparency and not an old boys club.

Not sure what you are stating about the pain/sadness/being in other peoples shoe stuff All I know is we live in civilised democracy and follow a law and the LAW takes its course not sure about feeling and emmotions.

Are you related/associated with this guy?

I feel there should be a poll/lobby/campaign to get duties reduced and make imports easier and simple rather than trying to garner sympathy for a law breaker! I am surprised you being from the business and all should be focusing on creating lobbies and industry networks to get rational (with economic study) thinking into the Govt mind on car duties etc rather than wasting your time on people who choose to BREAK the law. You sell respectible cars and global brands like Ferrari etc so focus on the respectible, professional and enthusiasts angle instead.

I am sure that the customs and all other revenue agents are also inolved in this scam when these cars were imported they to should be taken to task by the investigating agencies cheers

One of the most useful posts to potential buyers of imported cars (below is an example of how much a C63 should or did cost and what all documents should be available when making the final payment to the dealer.)

Lets say you add options worth 6,000 Euro

So, 56,000 + 6,000 = 62,000.

Now, add approx 2,000 Euro for Shipping, Insurance, Handling Etc....

So, 62,000 + 2,000 = 64,000 Euro.

Once the car lands, the customs duty payable is 114%, so that = 64,000 x 214 % = 1,36,960 Euro @ 58 ( Exchange Rate ) = Rs.79,43,680. Now, add Octroi @ 4.5% = 3,57,466, hence the Ex-Showroom Price Mumbai is 83,01,146/-

Next, add road tax 14% = 11,62,160

Plus insurance @ approx. 3.5% = 2,90,540

Total On Road Price = 83,01,146 + 11,62,160 + 2,90,540 = 97,53,846/-

There you go....thats the price...
