Just a thought.
Its got 1000nm of torque . Daily Drive. Lesser running cost.
If only it is out. Is it?

Else why not consider the Nissan GT-R too.?
The R8TDI is just a concept. But the same engine is available in the audi q7 suv.

The R8 TDI isn't a concept. It's a real car that is coming to India in 2010. It's a W12 engine that is slated to go (if it hasn't gone already) for production very soon.

i doubt that f450. it is still a concept and there's a 50/50 chance of it going to production. can any one throw some light on it.

I too heard it will come into production
with the Le mans getting a changeover of engine.
and with vw touareg and audi q7 using it, i wont be surprised if they get it into the r8 or the a8.

1000nm of torque is amazing.

I have confirmation from an Audi dealer who specifically said there would be no point buying R8 FSI after October 09, as there would be a W12 TDI coming out in 2010.

Whether there would be a point to buying something is surely not the dealer's decision to make. There is no way Audi will sell the V12 TDI engine anywhere near the price of the now quit old RS4's V8 engine, so the new car will most likely cost a lot more than the current one, and be made in much smaller numbers.

I dont think that W12 diesel is going to like the taste our diesel. A stunner like a R8 puffing out dirty black smoke from it's tail pipes is not the biggest turn on.

we never can imagine sports/iconic cars throwing out smoke like regular cars.

I read somewhere even Porsche is coming out with diesel for first time soon. So there would be now competition which sports car throws out more smoke..errr is it less smoke?

It's true. None of the really state-of-the-art diesel engines are designed to run on contaminated diesel fuel that also has a high sulphur content. This is the major reason that even the Q7 with the same engine is being offered for sale only in Europe atm.

I'm not sure about the price and all. What the dealer intended was that if one were to buy the car after October '09, they might as wait a little more and get the Diesel. He was only suggesting. And it's a W12, not a V12.

You both actually think that Diesel Audi R8's and Porsche Cayenne's will put out smoke? GUYS!! Even a Diesel 3-series doesn't put out smoke, forget about the more expensive, more refined cars! These aren't Ambassadors or buses!!

And as a sidenote, even the latest buses don't give out smoke.

Says who buddy?? Even my 525d put out some smoke under hard acceleration when you dont feed it with the "perfect" fuel.
Its not about the engine, its the fuel at fault.

I donno...after looking at the X6 Diesel and the S320 CDI, I am more inclined to think that expensive cars don't give out any smoke or noise (for an idle engine, that is). Even 730D for that matter.

The 730d and 3.0d X6/5 have the same engine as my car,so that one def would smoke too under bad fuel. And i have seen several S320CDi's leave a small cloud of smoke during downshifts.
Obv not at idle.Even a indica diesel wont do that.

I meant no noise at idle, not smoke.

Maybe it happens. But all the cars I've mentioned which I've seen....well, let's just say you wouldn't guess they were Diesels at all. And I'm sure MOST people who buy a car that expensive will take care not to f*** it up with bad fuel.
