Secunderabad businessmans Ferrari stolen! The saga sounds a bit fishy to me, to say the least. He is in Hyderabad, he buys the car from someone in Kerala and then tries to register it in Delhi!

Probably no. There are four Rangers in the country afaik -

• Ranger Wildtrack from Bangalore
• Ranger Raptor from Coimbatore
• Ranger from Pune

How do these get imported?

Not too sure about what the law says presently, but probably the Wildtrak and Raptor do cross USD 40 K. The prices in Australia are about AUD 55-60 K, which is over USD 40 K.

The Ranger in Pune was imported for R&D purposes so it is exempt from this rule. Not too sure about the Ranger from Imphal, heard it is a 2.2 4x2 variant so I am quite sure it will not cross USD 40 K. Maybe there is some provision in case of Transfer of Residence, however I am not very sure about this.

Imphal is a hub of stolen cars from Myanmar and rest of India (fact), and so is that Ranger, as per a few rumors from a Manipuri friend of mine. That car has probably been bought for nothing close to 40,000 US$, probably not even half that much.

I have heard that the ranger from Imphal was imported from Thailand.
As far as I know, india and Thailand have free trade agreement, so import duty on vehicle's are comparatively less.

The Ranger Raptor is sitting with a dealer in Chennai. Asking price is a jaw-dropping 1.15 Cr.

Hi there are a couple of E46's in the city, I was recently offered one for sale but the asking rate was way too high. It was a 05 328i with SMG transmission. Not Sure of its present status though.
