Hey Guys.

By the looks of it the Hyd car scene is hot these days. When I used to live in Hyd the only nice cars were with Nag (Porsche 944) and the two BMWs with Subbirami Reddy.

Are there any Jaguars there now like the XF or the XKR. What about Ferraris. I see most of the imports are diesel. I wonder with all that undeclared money why these people still buy diesel.

Are there any BMW 760LI or maybe Merc S63 or S65 there. Now these are cars to get excited about.

How about Alfa Romeos or Lancias, have u guys seen any there.

Also let me clarify there are no SLR roadsters in India let alone spotting one in Hyd. This is the as per the official record with Daimler AG. The same goes for the Bugatti Veyron, all accounted for none in India.

Correct me if you feel i am wrong.

@Wasif: Ive heard 'Nag' in the 80s and 90s has owned a Ferrari as well as a Porsche. Being a 944 wonder if it was the same car misintepreted on different occassions. I was told he had a Testarossa and later a 911. Or the otherway round. From a post made by Harit in another thread I gather you know your cars, which is why Im asking. Im very intrigued by imports in the 80s and 90s especially german cars. What were the BMWs owned by Subbirami Reddy at the time, if you dont mind divulging.

@mobike008: You sure about the 760s? I havnt seen any pictures of a 760 in Hyderabad. I know of one in Bangalore and 2-3 in Bombay (while Ive heard one is a badge swap)

Hi BEEMER3R.

As far as i remember Nag had this silver 944 or 924, i m not that sure which of the two it was but am pretty sure it was not a 911 or a Ferrari. Nags dad Nageshwar Rao had a red Fiat 124 which he was driven around in.

The BMW's with Subbirami Reddy were a dark blue 750 and a red 535. They were both imported together, one for him and the 535 for Sundeep, his son. They later had a 300S Merc too.

I am so sure of the above as i used to live opposite their houses on road no 10 Banjara Hills. In fact our house was there long before they moved to B Hills.

I left India around 1999 so i m not sure if Nag bought a Ferrari after that.

The BMW 760 LI is a V12 and retails for around 490,000 Dirhams in the UAE where I live.

Around the mid 1990's the Irani Embassy had a rather grand 350 S class merc

I think the Veyron is like the invisible man. We all know that he is around but not sure where.

The problem is that people look at a Lotus Elise in twilight and think they have seen a Veyron.

They also see an Audi TT and call it an R8.

I agree with wasif. There's no "permanent" Veyron in India.

The only chance of a Veyron in India would be on carnet, and while we all keep on talking about it, the carnet period would expire and it would go back to where it came from.

Here are the top ghost cars of TBHP:
The Mercedes Gullwing (North/North East - Huge discussion in the classics thread)
F40 somewhere down south
Veyron in Delhi and Hyd
SLR in Bombay and Hyd

Any that I've missed?

Dunno about a Veyron in Hyd, but the topic/ghost car is all the rage in Bangalore.

The funniest thing is that everyone's "friend" in Bangalore has seen the Veyron but no one & I mean no one has taken a picture of it.

Weird.

Guys, lets keep this thread discussion restricted to its original topic: Sightings of super cars and imports in Hyderabad.

Even if those sightings are related to "now" commonly sighted ones in Hyderabad.
