Procedure?

What all are the nuances of getting a used motorcycle of 1978 vintage to India from South America?
I will request if someone can throw light on all the aspects from shipping from the origin to getting it registered here.
Are the taxes different for used bikes being imported? And is there any way which can evade hassles of getting it in India? What is the entire procedure?

Please explain in elaboration. I am totally clueless about this.

I think you can only import up to 4 year old bikes. Anything older than that and they will trouble you and you might have to send it back. Unless, you are getting it to India on "transfer of residence".
