There is an RTI document from 2018 which says this plate is fake. I wonder if this is still running around in 2022 with the same plates.

This is very peculiar since the owner of that Range Rover, per his social media, is an Indian representative to the UN. However, I am not sure about how the number plate privileges work for such members. There's infact two such Range Rovers, one white as pictured above and another one in bronze as attached. The car can be seen escorting a Rolls-Royce Phantom that it shares garage with, during some sort of a UN meeting in the city a few months ago.

Re: Various Embassy & Consulate Vehicles!

Spotted this BMW X6 parked in front of a very nondescript apartment block in a very nondescript suburb of Bangalore.

What was it doing there? And why?

Can you shed some light on who the owner is? its a public figure so its probably within TBHP rules to name them I recon. I tried looking for it in the source you shared but could not find anything.

The entire thing seems highly irregular to me, 2 cars with the same diplomatic plate & the plates being non-standardised, an RTI reply from MEA stating its not a number they have issued, and a UN vehicle escorting a private vehicle (albeit a Rolls-Royce). Red flags galore.

Also, AFAIK, representatives are usually IFS officers or politicians, won't they get cars registered under the administration/central government instead of UN registered cars?

Either someone rich thinks they're so above the law that they are flouting the UN charter, OR my understanding of the UN charter is severely flawed. Anyhow, would love to get to the bottom of this.

Is someone running spy ops & using some UN cover to get away with something? Or a genuine mixup?

Spies usually do some things in plain sight.

I happen to see the same or similar convoy yesterday at Koramanagala in Bangalore. This time it was a Rolls Royce Phantom in White and Gold, escorted by a BMW X7M and a Maybach, all having some kind of consular emblem and writing on the plates. No pictures as it was raining and I could see Czech Republic and European Union mentioned along with the UN Emblem on all three cars.

The Rolls Royce was Pune registered and the X7 and Maybach were Bangalore registered with a single number. The way the numbers were written on the plates was quite different with KA5X XX000 written on one side and then the large UN Emblem and Czech Republic in between and the single number in the corner. Not sure about the legality of it as even if these cars were attached to the consulate, they were locally registered and hence the plate might be illigal.
