Hi eyedoc...great job u r one luck guy to get this in RHD..she is indeed a beauti...I had shipped a set of 17inch X 7.5 AMG replicas made in italy by "INTRA" they are very good quality and exact fits for W126/124..etc. They are single piece. They were brand new lying in their boxex till I traded them for another design to suite my E220 CDI. I will check with my rim guy if he has them let me know.

Great car buddy.

The 300SD was made from 1981-85 and was a straight 5 engine (also used in the W123 300 D Turbo and non turbo version). These versions were only available in the US and Canada and came only as LHDs with automatic transmission.

These cars usually had an inherent problem of the turbo failing, which was a huge cost. This was due to the Diesel of the proper quality not being available at that time. They came fitted with catalytic converters (USA spec, especially California) which also failed in India.

IMHO, an SD looses its identity when its converted from a LHD to a RHD. Also she has W210 rims which do not match.
The front also is reworked. These lights are not American spec lights. The lights ion your car are Euro spec lights which came in other W126s
.

Your car has these rims from the W210

The front head lamp cluster should look like this

Mercedes W126 300SD 1983-1985mercedes300sd.jpg

These rims also came commonly with the W126 300SD/SDL

I hope and trust she runs very well. It was actually a luxurious tank and the L version was a literal limousine with acres of leather.
The wheels should be available in Bombay easily.

Nice car. I always have a glance if any W126 passes by. There is something royal about them.
By the way, are you front side indicators from the W124? I dont remember the W126 having colorless side indicators in the front?

Later cars came with transparent side indicators. My 300SEL also has the same ones.
