a tyre blowing flat has nothing to with the make of the car ...blowouts can happen in a jap make , european make or an american make ..
i didnt like american cars much either ..but i think this dislike for american cars is more of a stereotype ...
there really are some very good looking american cars ...(transams , grandprixs , mustangs
they have a class of their own .. i am somehow begining to like the heavy stance and bigger looks ...they have a class of their own ... americans tend to produce the most horsepower ...altough power delivery is another story ..

of course the tyre had nothing to do with the car..it was a Continental btw
But I'm not wrong when I say most of the family sedans/mid sizers from US are crap looking and boring....and they are too big for their own good.
Their idea of cars is very different to Europeans/Japanese (which we tend to like)

Yes there are some American cars which look decent and even I like them...
th ones you have stated - Mustang, Trans-Am, Pontiac G6 (?) but so many of them are downright horrible.....
again looks are subjective but "most" would agree on this assesment I think.
