Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Guy in an SLC 43 AMG goes berserk at a police check post in Chennai. Seems like he was DUI . According to the report, he's been arrested and the car's been seized.

I was unable to find a news report about the incident in English. Will updated the thread if I come across one.

Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

What is stopping them from yanking him out of the car? Just because he is rich? Waiting for him to kill someone?

Meanwhile guys on motorcycles get a clotheline in the middle the road and then the key removed from the ignition for regular "checking".

The door is probably locked. It would have been locked from the point that the car reached the auto-lock speed, and will remain locked until the driver opens it. I guess they don't consider the situation bad enough to start braking glass.

I don't speak Tamil either (yes, I know I should by now), so I didn't bother to turn on the sound. Someone who does will be along to let us know what they are saying.

According to the news report, he refused to get out of the car after being stopped for close to 20 minutes, after which he gunned it in reverse, knocking down the barricades and ending up on the median. It was after this that the cops apparently broke the window to get him out.

Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

It is very clear he is someone with huge influence. Had it been somewhere else cops would have broken the window and pulled him out at the very first instance. Those who have seen recent Malayalam movies like Ayapanum Koshiyum & Nayattu knows that the life of a police officer can get into a mess if they get into a tussle with influential people. This looks like such a sad situation where those with deep pockets or influence can run free. This guy is clearly not fit for the road and is a huge danger for others on the road. What still gets me is that these folks can clearly afford a driver. Why not hire one rather than resort to this behavior ?

Confidence increasing as actual ability decreases, under the effect of alcohol, is not limited to the rich. But add even a small dose of arrogance, and the mixture becomes more dangerous.

The only way to change this situation is with real laws, real enforcement and real punishment, regardless of social or economic status. The number of people who think that the law does not apply to them gets reduced to just a few.

Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

From the very start of the video the car seems to be in reverse gear. Check out the reverse lights.

I feel this drunken fool had it in gear throughout this incident and then maybe his foot came off the brake or something and the car went backwards. Even when the car is on the curb you can see the rear wheels spinning. So the car remained in reverse even after it went over some barricades. That also explains why the car moved so slowly after making that initial jump over the barrier. The driver probably had no idea that the car was in reverse the whole time.

Luckily there was no traffic when the car decided to go back in time.

Apparently a AMG GTR crashed in Jalandhar today. Got this image as WA forward. Not sure about the authenticity of news.

Unverified. Supposedly an accident involving a Ferrari happened near yelahanka on new airport road, Bangalore some time ago today. Received as a forward on whatsapp.

Re: Supercars & Imports : Bangalore

This Portofino crashed last night on Hebbal Flyover, a shame to see such a beautiful car ruined. Does anyone know if the car can be repaired and brought back to life?

What website was this? The Mini looks like it got rear ended by a 2 wheeler of some sort, and is probably salvageable.
