The front bumpers are almost in tact it seems , is that because of the detachable bumpers ? I think the it was a rainy day and the driver lost control while flooring the accelerator.

It was a rainy day. Happened sometime in the morning opposite Intercontinental. The drive skidded and lost control.

The front has completely taken the impact and disintegrated. Probably thats why the driver is not injured. Unlucky though.

Oh the pain! A beautiful Boxster, this one! It jut shows that even one of the best handling cars in the world can get out of hand! Good to know that the driver is unhurt!

Ouch!! If the car skidded then its the result of switching off traction and driving in rain.

I know the owner. He wasnt speeding at all. Was behind a Passat. I guess rear engine rear wheel drive with rain. Got blindsided. He is not at all the racer types. Used it as his daily driver. Painful!!!

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Here are some pictures of our accident on Pune Expressway. We were waiting for our turn at the toll booth and a drunk truck guy rammed into us from the back at atleast 100kmph.

Car is totalled. Sad news was the airbags didnt deploy and i ended up getting hurt ( nothing major tho ). Called up Audi next day and they told me to refer some pg. xxx in manual stating the point of impact wasnt enough.

Luckily no passengers in the back seat else would have definitely been something unspoken about.

Never buying Audi ever again. ordered a f10 525d as a replacement now.

Car is totalled and impact was not enough to deploy air bags? Thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard.

Its not rear-engined, mate. Its mid-engined!
@spiff: That looks like a real bad crash. Hope everyone's safe!

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Ouch that must have hurt. These germans need to work on their quality and reliability or a day will come when people will consider a Tata more reliable.
But the impact in the front was not that much right? So if you are rear-ended, do the airbags get deployed?
Also would the insurance guys consider this totaled because of structural damage or will the cost of repair be more than 75% of IDV (I hope not :O)?

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Spiff there isnt that much of an impact on the front or the sides, so im wondering what would cause the airbags to deploy.

Btw what engine did the car have. Totally OT.

Ouch! Must be awful to see those pics and re-live the moment. Glad everyone's ok and hopefully insurance gives no problems.

The fact that you walked away without major injury is a testament to the fact and airbag deployment wasn't necessary.

A totaled vehicle is not an indicator of whether an airbag should deploy.

Go through the airbag thread for more details.

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Since the car was stationary and got ramed into us. My head ended up hitting the steering with Seatbelts not locking up. What about passengers in the back ? If there was anyone in the back they would have been fatal and even rear airbags didnt deploy.
