Found no mention of it in the local newspaper, so my guess is the worst scenario could be some injury.

The bonnet seems to have done a good job of absorbing the impact, there is absolutely no signs of impact on the windshield or the door.

Speaks volumes about the build quality and the importance given to safety of the occupants.

That looks quite bad in my opinion. Especially if the wheel has taken a hit. Ofcourse BMW secure and the basic insurance plan will cover all of it if not a huge chunk of it.

Audi R8 crashed by a car magazine @ Amby Valley. Apparently, it caught fire too.

Volvo V40 crashed by some other journo last month. Apparently, 3 airbags popped out.

The road leading to kumily is long, winding and scenic. Perfect for enjoying the 6 convertible with the top down, but guess it did not end too well.
The road is good if you plan for a 35kmph average speed, lots of rough patches ,blind curves and badly designed surface along with a bus stop every 2 km. The markings are also not very detailed, a first timer with a fast car would be at risk any day.

I am astonished yet very glad that the guys survived ! How is it possible that they crashed at a high speed even if you consider the on lookers report of 200km/hr as exaggeration they probably were around 80 to 100km/hr? That is a lethal speed to have a collision without a helmet on a bike !
Did the guys jump off in time to avoid the collision ?
Many a times on a two wheeler, being at a certain speed is also a life saver as it flungs you immediately on impact. Of course you have to be really lucky to not smash into anything thereafter, apart from being light weight to defy gravity I say this from experience of a friend of mine who met a similar accident. Collided head on with a van but got away with only bruises simply because he was thrown out of the scooter on impact.

Bhunu, salute you man. Our country needs more people like you, unlike the 100 odd bozos that assemble on an accident scene and just make the situation worse!

Thats a sad scene. Considering its a Beemer, the impact looks like a not so simple crash. I am thinking of the vehicle which would have taken the hit if it was a cornet to corner collision. Did you notice whether the air bags are out?

And you hit the road at whatever speed the bike was doing. That's a rather deadly sort of "lifesaver."

That's why a good helmet and a set of leathers go a long way. The trick is to not to resist the fall and the drag thereafter. You have to go with the flow till you stop. Of course it helps if you dont hit anything while tumbling.

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Found these few pictures on the FB page of kolkata car fanatics, I thought of posting them here. This is a brand new Cayman S still unregistered. This is a result of really bad & disgusting road condition of kolkata. No wonder we see so few good exotics here. I am sure many many enthusiasts in kolkata want to buy exotics and supercars also have the money to do so, but back off due to the pathetic road scene in kolkata and end up buying SUVs, they are much more practical.

AUDI R8 Crashes infront of me in Mahabalipuram, TN

I was witness to a White Audi R8 with PY plates crash in Radisson Blu, Temple Bay Resort.

The R8 was being driven by a young-ish, late 20's early 30's guy with a similarly aged lady in the passenger seat. On the second pass as the car screamed along, the driver lost control while negotiating the non-functional landscaping roundabout on the main straight, then the rear left wheel clipped the kerb sending it into a fishtail, hitting a resort staff person walking along and taking down a palm!

On the fateful pass, as i listened intently to the beautiful sound of the engine i noticed he was in 3rd gear and easliy doing 90kmph++, and definitely was too over eager and unskilled to carry those speeds through that chicane-esque roundabout!

The passenger was pulled out of the car shaking and sobbing bitterly but completely unharmed, the driver ran out and yelled to his friends to get a car, said friends were all gathered at the far end of the driveway, came running to help pull the man from under the car! An ambulance came to the scene minutes later to take the injured man to hospital, he was in a bad state, very bad head injury, bleeding profusely and drifting in and out of consciousness. Hope he makes it!

I just took a few pictures before the graveness of the situation dawned on me!

Extremely reckless behaviour!

So the guy was fooling around, on resort roads --- and without even having the necessary driving skills. That's worse than reckless.

90+ on a resort road? That is shit. Money sure does not buy you driving skills, and more than that, common sense.

My heart and prayers go out to the injured soul.

@Thad E Ginathom: I agree that it is very reckless behaviour, I condemm this blatant, rash abuse of power and was there to see the bikes at the Southern H.O.G meet.

That is really unfortunate. Hope the poor soul survives. From the pic it appears to be quite a wide road.
