The Rapide is parked outside Gamdevi Police Station. There was an A8 and an Elantra involved in the crash as well. Happened at Peddar Road on Sat night. Fortunately no injuries to anyone though.

AFAIK, its MH with a fancy/VIP number
But that's what a couple of people who saw it at the police station told me.
Could be true or false as well.

Drove on after that hit? Callous and also must have cooked the engine after that hit.

Am sure the airbags must have popped, they should have enough DNA evidence on who was driving. I just hope that driver was not merely a fall guy!

An Aston Martin collided with two cars on Pedder Road early on Sunday, in an accident that injured three people, the police said.

The Aston Martin belongs to Reliance Ports, said senior police officers, adding that it was speeding at the time of the mishap according to eyewitnesses. The Gamdevi police have registered a case against an unknown person for rash driving and negligence under sections 279 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code and under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Additional commissioner of police Krishna Prakash said: "The driver of the Aston Martin ran away. Even the eyewitnesses and the complainant could not see who it was. We have registered a case and the probe is on."

A spokesperson for Reliance Industries said the accident was minor and a company driver was behind the wheel of the Aston Martin. "The driver was taking the car for parking when the accident occurred. He did not flee; he informed the company and went away in another car of the company," the spokesperson added.

According to the police, the mishap happened around 1.30am near Lata Mangeshkar's residence Prabhu Kunj. Security guards of nearby buildings on Pedder Road told the police they heard a loud sound of a car crashing into another.

Gamdevi police officers said the Aston Martin first ran into an Audi sedan. The Audi's driver, 25-year-old student Phorum Ruparel, complained to the police that the Aston Martin hit her car from behind with such force that she lost its control. The Audi jumped over the divider and hit an oncoming private bus. "The Aston Martin then hit a Toyota Corolla and halted after travelling another 30-35 metres. A wheel of the car came off due to the collisions," said a police officer.

Assistant inspector Ravindra Pawar of Gamdevi police said Ruparel received minor injuries, so did the Toyota Corolla's driver (45-year-old Vikram Mishra) and an unknown person travelling with him.

"After the accident, a crowd gathered at the spot. Traffic was disrupted for nearly 30 minutes until the Aston Martin was towed to the Gamdevi police station. During its examination, the police recovered a registration certificate that mentioned Reliance," said another officer.

A few friends who passed by just after it happened said the car must have gone ahead with its own momentum. It would have been going pretty quick before hitting that A4.

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Its pretty obvious it was the ambani kid driving the car. His security escort was following who whisked him away to safety. Now the driver is taking the fall for it. Its amazing what the powerful can get away with in India. If he had simply reported to the police station next morning saying the car went out of control and they will pay damages to all concerned, knowing his family's clout, nothing would have happened. Instead they planned this extensive cover up. If some cctv footage shows up showing him in the drivers seat he will be in a lot of trouble.

What if it is a case of DUI? I remember reading about an incident sometime back where the owner surrendered next day claiming he ran away fearing the mob violence. The witnesses of that accident suspected drunken driving but they didn't have any proof for the same. By the time police get evidence/info about the actual guy driving the car, it would be impossible to ascertain the DUI factor at the time of accident. If the actual driver admitted it immediately after the accident, they'll have to undergo alcohol level tests which is no longer applicable. If it is a cover up, the police would have got a clean test result from the driver who surrendered and hence the remaining proceedings will take the route of a regular accident.

Eyewitnesses claim to have seen a young, clean-shaven, portly man being helped out of the damaged Aston Martin. The man who presented himself in the police station is 55 years old and has a moustache. The only resemblance he has to the eyewitness’ description of the fleeing driver is his hefty build.
The crash seems to be ruffling some feathers~ Who was actually driving it?

The car crash that never was

If it was Ambani's son, nothing ever will happen to him. I am sure the Audi and Elantra drivers will be well compensated for their damages. Hell they can be gifted brand new cars!
Also this Rapide was said to be *gifted* to Sachin is it? How hasnt the media picked this up yet? Would have imagined a furore over it.
