Look carefully on the passenger side fender. It's clearly bent and scratched.

Like I said, front passenger side has been whacked. The rest of the car looks fine. And thats it. It was undriveable because of the extent of damage done.

It doesn't take much front-wing damage to make a car undrivable. Even body-only damage can do that if it means that steering is obstructed.

Red 991 Carrera S Cabrio in Kolkata mows down an 18year old boy,the fellow declared dead by the time he was taken to the hospital.Police nabbed the car since it took place in the heart of the city, and during evening hours and the 'driver' has been taken into custody.Other passengers were let go.Later the driver got bail too.

Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Photos of the Audi R8 Spyder that crashed at Marine Drive around 5:00 AM on Sunday morning.

Also, not sure if this is too bad, car looks salvageable - no death/injury likely as airbags deployed and no blood in interior.

Sorry for the bad quality, hands were shaking and it is a phone cam! Also the only 100% clear pic is that of the Honda City that banged into the R8.

Meanwhile.... In Kolkata.
These people must stop buying supercars unless and until they can respect it and the lives of the other road users. What on earth is wrong with them killing people this way?!

It seems to be the Honda City that was coming the wrong way. Allegedly he was going the wrong way to make a quick entry into one of the opposite lanes (as you do if you are an absolute fool, even at 5 AM) and the R8 emerged from its own overtaking move on the oceanside of Marine Drive. Both cars collided, the Audi went nowhere but the trailer, the Honda City was able to limp away AFAIK.

--- all you need to buy a car, super or otherwise, is the purchase price. Nobody is going to stop them.

--- people who kill with a Porsche would probably also kill with an M800.

Interesting to see that the roll-over protection (behind the headrests) has deployed!

Based on what? The fact that it was a young guy in a Porsche? Does that equal 'reckless killing spree' to you, just like the media would love to have you believe.

You can see it rubbing off here too (bold emphasis mine):

The writer of the article doesn't even understand what "road rage" is. I really wouldn't trust his description of "break-neck speed" either.

Also, has anyone here wondered what an 18 year old tourist from Rajastan might have been doing in the middle of the road in Hyderabad? Surely that could have something to do with it too.

My point?

Don't start passing judgments based on stereotypes (rich kids, flashy car, innocent victim), and don't believe everything that the media has cooked up either.

Absolutely agree Rehaan.
My first hand information totally contradicts to this Hindustan Times article.

This baseless article is all made up to provide false information and gain newspaper views. This is mainly because thankfully now the victim has survived and the 911 has been left undamaged too.

The 2 Porsches and a Ferrari coming to bail out the Porsche guy is all Mirch Masala too.

Are you going to tell?

It is not that I believe that such media reports are necessarily true (I often talk about the stories involving bikers), but a simple statement that you know different doesn't really add very much.

(oh, no offence: I'm not doubting you. Just... more is needed.)

If you had read my previous post with a little more attention, you would have understood why my first hand information contradicts the article.
Highlighting them for you here now.
