re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

My god! It is so dis-heartening to see the 458 in this state. Makes me really sad and worried. I hope the kids came out un-hurt. Any news on that? And I hope this Ferrari can be back on its feet as soon as possible. Any more details on this crash?

This is the one that roams around near khan-market/central delhi, yeah?
If so, then this was bound to happen. I have seen how this was driven more than once. Usually a couple of boys in it.

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

458 crash is the first one of its type reported on this thread if i am right? That is just painful.

Ive had a front wheel impact on one of my cars. It just never got back to its original condition. The steering and suspension just never felt the same afterwards.

Its sad to see the 458 is such a state. The front end will need major repair work or for that matter i guess the suspension needs replacement.Hopefully it will be repaired soon and kept away to taste dust!!!

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

This accident happened in Ahmedabad 2 nights ago. All over the papers today.
Quote:
Life in the fast lane might be fun for some, but dangerous for others as this accident proved. A rashly driving youngster in a high-speed car kills one, injures other

An audacious, party-loving 27-year-old who allegedly drove a high-speed luxury car fatally knocked down a biker and seriously injured his friend, Vastrapur police said. The driver absconded after the accident. Three seconds is all it took for the speeding BMW car said to be driven by Vismay Shah to snuff out the life of 25-year-old Shivam Dave who was pillion-riding on his friend Rahul Patel’s motorbike. Rahul is fighting for his life in hospital.

Shivam, who lived at Sagar Apartments in Bodakdev, was a diploma civil engineering student and got engaged a couple of months back. The BMW 730Ld with a Chandigarh registration number (CH-01-AE-9360) is registered in the name of Vismay Shah, son of Dr Amit Shah, Regional Transport Office (RTO) sources said. The Shahs live in bungalow no 13 at Mangalyam Cooperative Housing Society, near Nehrunagar. After the incident, the BMW driver reportedly left in a car driven by a woman that came soon afterwards.

Ahmedabad Mirror has exclusive video footage of the incident that happened late on Sunday night near Premchandnagar circle. The speeding BMW 730Ld (CH-01-AE-9360) was coming from Judges Bungalow road when it hit a biker who was coming from Mansi crossroads turned near the Premchandnagar circle.

Eyewitnesses said the biker and the pillion rider were flung at a distance, while the car driver rammed into a tree, near a dairy parlour. The speed can be gauged from the impact it had on the full grown tree that was almost uprooted. Bystanders said the car was travelling around 120 to 150 kph.

Saw the CCTV footage of the accident at the NDTV site. While there is no doubt that the BMW was being driven very fast, common sense dictates that you slow down/stop and make sure that the opposite lane is clear before making a right turn. The bikers did not do that and paid the price.

I saw the footage too and although the BMW was speeding, the biker too took the turn from the wrong side of the small circle and that too without seeing or slowing down (as it is very common in India esp Gujarat). Probably the BMW guy did not expect them to do so and hence maintained his speed. May the departed soul RIP. I sincerely hope it is a learning experience for the drivers/ riders in Gujarat where driving sense is almost non existent.

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

It was a horrifying video. The whole incident can only be termed as an 'accident', seemed like a error of judgement from both motorists. My heart felt condolences to the family of Shivam.

re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

I'd gone over to the BMW workshop yesterday to pick up the car from servicing, While I walked over to the car I chanced upon a Rolls (looked like a Ghost) which was badly banged up on the left side and was leaning towards one side like it had lost its shocks.

Any details on this?
