Re: Pics: Accidents in India

A toppled Ford Mustang near City Centre, Kolkata. Any details are not available at the moment. Looks like a speedy swerve gone wrong.

Recently drove back home around 2am a couple of days back, and I noticed there was barely any policing on the streets. Most people don't follow the traffic signals at that time, forget about speed limits. Although this could've happened at any place, Salt Lake with its relatively clean roads provides perfect opportunities to people looking to gun their cars. I've seen a lot of people drive badly during the day in Salt Lake, so what happens at night can easily be guessed.

This is based on the assumption that the "City Centre" is City Centre 1, Salt Lake. In case it's City Centre 2, I guess we can all deduce what happened on the very fine roads of Rajarhat.

Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

I had gotten these snaps a fortnight back and was waiting for someone else to post it here with more details. Yet, none did. From what I heard, it was struck by a mini truck, leaving the country’s only Blue Caelum Performante into this misfortune.

Re: Pics: Accidents in India

A brand new Mustang crashed on the Guwahati-Shillong road. Image received on Whatsapp, maybe it skidded because of slippery conditions due to non-stop rainfall in the area.

Excuse the picture quality.

Re: Pics: Accidents in India

Take a look at Mustang's popup hood - for pedestrian safety.

The boulder was saved from serious damage primarily because of the popup hood.

Not a good system for India. My Tiguan hit a dog and the pedestrian safety system got activated.

Right after the incident, I tried to push down the hood to close it. It was huge disappointment though. Actuators are for one time trigger and once triggered, it needs replacement in pair. Costed around 40k for parts and skilled labor.

As mentioned in our official review thread, the Mustang is extremely tail-happy. Going by the pic of the accident, I have no doubt that's what caused this one. It's probably the worst car to drive on a slippery wet road.

Bury the magic pedal from a standstill or at low speeds and you’ll experience the rear end wiggling from side to side! Once, she slid from left to right, and then left to right again.

its very easy to avoid sliding it, DONT GO PEDAL TO THE METAL ON A WET ROAD! i drive my 911 in torrential rain without any such issues, i sometimes even touch dizzying speeds of up to 60 kmph on straights.

fun fact, its more dangerous to have a partly wet road than a full wet road, sometime just one wheel losing grip on a wet patch confuses a cars traction control system.

Thats true, it is indeed an tail-happy vehicle and Half of the blame can be placed on those Pirelli summer tires which go from bad to worse in wet conditions.

Funnily enough, I just said this on another thread...

This also could be a cause

Re: Supercar & Import Crashes in India

Invisible oil on the road could be one rare exception to my dad's rule.

Actually, he taught me that as it might have been a potential GB driving-test question.
