Have you left out Audi ? I think the Q7 is the biggest threat for the X5 and ML in India. Strangely, even for the Rangies.

The Q7 and GL should be direct competitors. They are the same size. In fact the Q7 is marginally longer.

In that case GL will be ahead of competition. 3rd row seating in Q7 is just for kids, I couldn't even get in, forget about sitting; whereas in GL third row seating is meant for adults. That might be a good selling point for GL. Q7 is 200.3" long and GL is 200.6". Though there's not much difference in length, the GL is deceivingly bigger from inside. But again Q7 is a bit cheaper than GL.

The GL is bigger than the Q7 in many ways. Also more comfortable. It was launched in B'lore and Pune yesterday, and doesn't seem much cheaper than the Q7 actually.

But, at the end of the day, those hot LEDs on the Q7 alone make me wanna buy the Audi!

Guys the ML is now placed to compete with the X3,Q5, Freelander, Prado and the base models of the Q7,Porsche Cayenne, Range Rovers. The GL is to take on the top variants of its compititors. So i think Mercedes has a winner on its hand here.

I am seeing a lot of GLs in Bombay. Comfortable BIG 4x4, 7-seats, Mercedes reliability and an aggressive price tag. It couldn't have got better. A Q7 beater in many ways.

Drove past this behemoth, and stopped as I thought I saw a 500 badge.
And a 500 it was! Must be a joy driving this monster of a SUV.

Believe these aren't too common around here as well in the 500 guise.
