Pictures from the launch

Since Gogi has already put a report of the launch I might as well post the pictures I took this evening starting from the unvieling of the Phantom Coupe. The car looks nice in the flesh. I quite liked the A pillar design on this one. The headlamps are from the DHC and the doors are huge. Enjoy the photos.

I too skipped dinner. It was suprising to see that the Slumdog Millionaire OST was being played at the launch. "Jai Ho" to be precise . Also spotted was Anu 'Copycat' Malik.

Apart from me, is there anyone else on the forum who feels that the RR DHC looks ugly?

It's a boat on wheels. I used to think that that was the W140, how wrong I was.

Well to add on to what gogi and dippy have said:
I reached late, after the car was officially "unveiled" and gogi had left. Gogi has basically told everything that happened on that very very very hot and humid night. There was the assortment of well known car passionates, namesly: hormazd sorabjee, nitin dossa, pervez damania, jimmy mistry, tejas kothari and other little known people like dippy, v16, etc...
Anu Malik was examining the car and was wondering if he could copy something. @ Dippy did you click a photo of his jacket? Hideous!
So after the usual hellos and hi's, meet the full kachalia family who escort us to the "gaadi". Then, there is this eager beaver sales guy or someone who says and i quote:"Please sit in the car and tell me what you notice first and is damn exciting?" I'm like, "comfy seats, lovely dash finish?". He looks at me like anil kapoor form slumdog and says, "No, no the most exciting feature of this car is the starlit roof. Look up sir..."
So i looked up and saw the superb starlit roof (similar to ones in the new airplanes). So it was good, but how many times does one really look the roof of ones car from inside? And why is this mentioned as a major USP? Weird.
Moving on, discussed cars with dippy, mingled around, but was getting late or meeting so had to leave soon...
At the gate, we collected our take away bags, gifts from rolls royce as you may say. That's when you realize the cheapness of the whole thing. Inside is one small booklet and a nice box. Open the small box and you see a leather pouch for a pen drive. Anticipating a classically carved RR rolls royce USB pen drive, you open the plastic covering and all you see is a brushed steel finish 2GB pen drive without an RR logo! A tacky 2GB sticker on it that's all. Must have bought it in wholesale from crawford market. Gave mine to the valet.
While leaving, the one incident brought a smile to my face was that a 'S' class justdropped off 4 hot hot hot girls in short short short skirts.... Their legs reached their armpits...!
Dippy email "those" snaps to me please.

Hey dippy i see that you have one snap with me in it too! Thanks. BTW, i'll get the official snaps from navnit soon and post them up.

@Tejas: Yep prospective buyers like you were snapped by by camera, mere mortals like me and V16 got left out but I'm sure you will see a lot of us in the Navnit snaps because every two minutes we had a guy come up to us and say " Saaar one photo please".

Infact there even was a guy from Navnit Aviation who came to up to me and V16 to sell us a chopper. He did not know however that me and V16 dont settle for anything less than an Airbus A380 .

The maroon leather looks a bit gawdy IMO.Other than that this car should be competing with yachts and not other cars!

The Aviation guys name is Harshawardhan from Navnit Aviation Ltd, an Ex Airforce Wing Commander, Nice fellow to chat with. He told me also to pick a chopper, and spilled someones champagne during dinner upstairs. Lol.

Buddy, every import/exotic that I have seen in the flesh till date has looked much better than in the pics, be it the Magic India 612 Scag's, the ugly, disproportionate, chic Lexus SC430 and a few more.
Peace.

Awesome pics nonetheless.
