Yes i have seen several on the road here in New York ...never seen a new 3 in bombay tho. But the looks dont quite exite me honestly, looks every simple nothing striking about. I think the C looks far better. Saw a silver new 3 series yest with the new M5 alloys on it...imo the best alloy design ever made by BMW ...they looked good on the car but it still didnt come close to looking as good as the C55 amg. I think if the rear lights had the white out indicators and a little more fresh appeal to the car woudl look gr8. Headlamps r very similar to the 1 series. Interiors r like the 5 series but much smaller.

Its too cheap for being exempt fr homologation. You will see only high end 5 series around

"Dalal's ferrari"... whoever told u that the dalal's were that rich. the car doesnt belong to Dalal but a "lucky" (read very very rich) leather exporter ..

Correct me if I'm wrong......but Homologation is required only if a car company officially decides to set up base and sell the product in India. If its a straight import with full duty paid, then you would'nt need homologation. For example, all these 350Zs, Minis, Celicas, Busas, R1s...they are even cheaper but they are not homologated are they?.........granted they have authorized dealerships, but BMW AG does not have an address in India.

The present exim policy notification suggests homologation-free imports of cars over US $40,000 and the ARAI operates on the basis that this is applicable to three sets of car importers – individuals, firms and companies all of whom have valid EPCG licenses. So if any car that is under $40,000 has to get a homogolation certification from ARAI before it can be registered

Yup evo6 you are spot on , if the car is less than $40000 it is mandatory to get the homologation certificate .

These come in under T/r, companies EPCG which are exempt from this and other devious means

Homologation comes in if an importer wants to import and retail cars under $40000 - X trail, CRV, Tuscon and any car made in India.
Ie, you can import a consigment and sell.

The $40k + cars have to be imported against a particular order.
