Some differences between EVO 9 and 8 are, the grill on 8 is split, evo 9 has those circular air intakes and 9 has slightly smoked lamps( though even the above model has same)..

Its an EVO VIII for sure. The IX has a different grill. This car looks raised. An EVO definitely doesn't have that kind of ground clearance by default.

The Evo VIII (FQ 400)had a series of aerodynamic linings and the side rear view mirrors were modelled on shrek's ears
(as per Jeremy Clarkson, Top Gear)

This is evo IX

Why I can conclude this as the Evo VII is this that for both Evo VIII and Evo IX
the front indicators were placed above the headlamps on the outward corners.
The Evo VII has indicators below the headlamps as seen here

BTW, Really nice find there dude.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. The Internet is not always reliable.

8, 9, 47.. Whatever EVO the damn thing is, I love it. So badly want to drive one of these things. Compact nuclear reactor of an engine, leech-like grip and perfect handling. Sigh.

I could be wrong - but going by the reg no I guess this is the KS Motorsports Evo VIII. Guess the car has been re-painted. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit - Car is already been pictured here by X-machine. - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/590448-post60.html

Ahhh.. Man, spot on. an EVO. I always wanted to see a snap of one on India Roads. I want to drive one to see whats exactly it feels like that enthusiasts just cant stop admiring this incredible machine.

Some Day Man... Some Day!

@V12 it certainly is the same car, the number is same, looks like the guy changed the bumper and the hood. Looks better now IMHO.

Guys the car is a Lancer with the Evo 8 kit on it and belongs to a friend of mine. It used to be silver with blue stickering on the sides. Probably the cars pictures would be on a drag thread. The car is done by KS motorsport and my friend brought the kit down from Malaysia. To the unknown the car would and surely can pass for the original Evo.

Anyone who's wondering whether both the cars being discussed here are the same, I just saw the "other" one, i.e. the modified one with lots of stickering on either side and a black hood, in Santacruz. So I've spotted both within a week of each other. Can't be the same one.

As far as i remember there was one original Evo 8 brought down by K.K. and there were three Evo Kit cars. with everything from Engine, trans mission and fenders brought in.
There was a now famous rally driver who had a modified Evo 8 that he would rally with but that car was in the south.

Flyingspur if you do get a chance take a round of Prithvi cafe and see if the white has been repainted. Thank you.

That I gathered from the thread, but how do you explain my seeing both cars a few days apart? The one I saw today had the vinyls on the side and the hood.

Strange. I have actually NEVER seen an interesting car there. Except for a Soarer / SC430 which usually stood covered.
