saw this car outside/near loin gate a few weeks ago. There is a LHD drive 9000 turbo imported from the US located south mum. It was up for sale soem years ago not sure where it is now. Not mention a few of the pre 60's models posted else where on TeamBHP.

Saab is/was? a GM company and there is a lot of platform sharing so a GM dealer maybe looking after this beauty.

Saw this on my office parking lot today, not sure what model Saab it is, looks pretty spiffy though.
That Guy knows his Cars well, Classy....

IIRC the Airports Authority of India has or had Saab 9000 Turbos fitted with test gear to mesure Runway grip/Condition.

The only other SAAB that I have seen was an LHD Saab 9000 saloon. That was up for sale 5 years ago. Never used and never serviced.

Airports authority have a converted SAAB 9000 for runway friction testing

My mistake! You're right - it is a V6.

I love the engine start location near the gear / shifter lever.

Hello Malhaar ,

Sadly there is no dealer in India, however Saab Sweden has said that the market in India is interesting and marketing in India is under way.

Saab Automobile AB who will be taking on additional responsibility of marketing and sales as of March 1st, 2009 instead of being a part of GM sales channel.

Until then i guess importing from Singapore is a way to get a hand on a Saab 9-3 and then import it in to India.

the dealer is Trans Eurokars in Singapore : Saab Singapore - Trans Eurokars

Cheers
Dippen

Hello avishar,

yes Saab is a part of GM premium brand just like Volvo is for Ford.

My cousin owns a Saab 9-5 3.0L V-6 diesel with sports chassis in the UK, which he wants to import to Delhi on transfer of residence. The main concerns are
- What's the best way to handle the import,
- Who would service it in Delhi, and
- Where can spares be sourced from.

Can members advise on this ?

Somebody help... Isn't there a single Saab in Delhi? Does no one have any information about how to import a used car into India on transfer of residence?

His issue is that it is not worth anything in the UK. The cost of bringing it over will amount to an additional 10L approx. I have not seen a SAAB except for a 9000 in my 15 years here so parts etc will be tough. The engine is rare over here.

He will be on his own. It will be less hassle to sell the car and put the money used for duties into a new Superb.

The days of selling any old foreign car are over

Hi ajmat, thanks so much for a reply.
"not worth anything in the UK"
Partly true, but he is also a little attached to his car, and doesn't mind the expenditure (unless it goes into RR territory). BTW, it's a Saab 95 Vector Sport 3.0L V6 Estate.

The 10L that you mention - what component of it is import duty, and how much might shipping cost? Any agents in Delhi/Mumbai who might facilitate the whole process?

Agreed parts sourcing will be a problem, but aren't there any importers in Delhi who can source parts from say, Singapore or Bangladesh, at a price? I'd seen quite a few Saabs in Dhaka some years ago. More importantly, where do we find a good place to do the repairs in Delhi. in the absence of a service centre?

Bottom line is, he sells the car, HE loses money. He brings the car in, COMPANY pays!

Just the duty itself is 110% plus the shipping charges. Can not import the car if more then 3yrs old and if he has stayed in UK for less then 3yrs.
