Good call but don't make it very loud. And also dont do any tip modification.Leave the tip stock. That will look nice.

The Pics look great.

I am sure many can see that actually the W124 is not that much smaller than the W140. The W124 has been very well kept.

Engine Oil should always be Mobil1.
If anyone has any query about W124 then please write here or PM me.

No no not loud at all. It would just give you a rumble at high RPM, which i cannot describe in words. When driven easy you cannot hear anything. I did see some exhaust pictures from the net but it does not look good with the car. The stock ones look much better.

Dude, I had an epiphany and realized that in 1992, there was the 600SEL and not the S600. The S600 moniker came in in 1994/5 when the W140 received its first facelift. So I think if yours is the 1992 model, you should have the 600SEL moniker on it.

Thank you Jubin. Yeah actual and pictures are two different things, Pictures make the car look like its on a diet . She deserves all the attention and i am making sure she gets it. The bigger boy i showed you gets far less attention than the S600.

I agree e92335. Then again if you go through the Chasis number of the car. The same Chasis did come with the S600 Badge as well, hence the owner had had it changed in UK itself to S600 from the 600 SEL. Now the other thing you brought to my notice is this car since it is a 1992 should be a 408 horsepower machine which was detuned in 1993 to 389 horsepower.

35,910 is the total number of 600 SEL's and S600's built from 1992 to 1999.

W140.057 1992–1993 600SEL 6.0 L M120 V12 35,910
1993–1999 S600

Here is a picture of the work in progress of the engine. Parts come in today afternoon.

I can sit with the car if i want but dont, as i do not like disturbing someone when he is working. I would not be much help to the Mech, so i go once a day and have a look at whats happening.

Sorry forgot to mention that. The parts are coming from Ajit Auto at Opera house (Bombay).
I also forgot to mention new tires Goodyears 255/45/18 - Rs 17,000 each. Set of five tires Rs 85,000.

this servicing will set you back by around Rs 2,00,000.
I wont call that cheap as they are not from the Benz dealer.
BTW: tires seem to be pretty expensive. Are these an unusual size??

Yes it would set me back by around 1.20 lakhs for parts not includeing the tires Rs 85,000. The Benz dealer for the same parts was chargeing me 3.5 lakhs. This does not include labour and taxes applicable. So add that and you are looking at a 4.5 lakhs bill alone. Now add the tires cost and you are looking at 5.35 lakhs as your cost. I had estimated the same value or a little more than what i paid for the car to have her running, It is cheaper than that, so i do not consider it expensive. Now i just pay Auto Hanger labour charges.
The parts are got only after giving the Chassis Number of the car. So wether i get it from the dealer or outside they are original and they match.
The tires are an unusual size and not stocked by everyone. What is available are Goodyear (Rs17,000), Michilin (Rs19,700) and Yokohama (Rs 16,000). I was told Goodyears are the better of the three, hence going for it.
