That's not a genuine S 600. The rear bumper and exhausts don't match. The alloys are from the S 500 and the S 600 badging doesn't look original.

Never knew that a S class could sound so good! but hey it's an v12 afterall.

Edit: Engine from W140 S600 and CL600 were used in the very first Zonda

I am now convinced that there IS a GOD. Holy moly! That's incredible.

Too bad that I have to "make do" with a straight six.

that sounds exceptional, although quite uncharacteristic of a big luxo-barge like the S. I'd have preferred something smoother and less high-strung, but hey, it's not my money.

Guys I am not joking, but it is not very different from a nicely tuned Premier Padmini. (As heard from both inside and outside).

Guys that video is part of a project which i read in Jalopnik few days back

How To Make A Used Mercedes Sound Like A Pagani Zonda

The key part of sounding like a Zonda is having the engine of a Zonda. Well, sort of. A Pagani Zonda uses a modified 7.0 and 7.3 liter AMG V12, naturally aspirated. You can't get the race-inspired Zonda engine cheaply, but you can get the next best thing - the 6.0 liter Mercedes M120 engine (that was actually used, untuned in the first Zonda, the C12), or the 5.8 liter M137 engine. This style of engine came in the Mercedes S600, SL600, and CL600 from 1992 to 2002.

re: Bought a "Big Daddy" W140 Mercedes S600 V12

Believe it or not, earlier this year, someone was selling 2 'brand new' W140s for $300,000 (that's more than the AMG variant of the current S-Class).

Beautiful, but a nightmare. I'd rather buy a late nineties W140 S500 that has been driven daily for $10,000. So many examples in the USA. These 'new' cars would have completely busted parts (wiring, electronics, rubber etc.).

Re: Bought a "Big Daddy" W140 Mercedes S600 V12

As far as W140's are concerned there's an easy way to identify the 1st Gen and the 2nd Gen.

1st Gen - 1991 - 1995 - have dual tone paint (the bottom fiber bit and bumpers are in contrasting colours to the body) and parking 'masts' were there to make it easy to park.

2nd Gen 1996-1999 - Body and fiber panels in same colour. Parking sensors instead of the 'masts'.

Anyone interested try to get the 2nd Gen, they cleared most of the 1st gen's problems and had better wiring looms.

This has now moved on to another enthusiast, enthusiastic about 'restoring' her. Sigh

Really disappointed to see it in its current state. I thought this car would have been restored and running in pristine condition by now. Hope the new owner does justice to the big daddy!
