I just hope to not see Sachin's name on income tax evasion for this car or anything else. Assuming he made a profit on this sale, because of SRT and MS names. Too many of us hold Sachin to higher standards as a person close to heart, if there is anyone who should care less about moolah it must be the likes of Sachin. A Raja or Kalmadi may have more moolah, but not the emotional bond of millions.

My plea to Sachin da - stay out of the front page for anything other than cricketing news- dont break my heart, please pay the freakin taxes

Pardon my ignorance but I think the top spec Panamera Turbo S is also priced at or above 80 lacs INR in US.Anyway,that's somewhat close to your mentioned figure..But as far as the 458 goes,the base price starts from a $ 225,000! So that's priced almost exactly the same as the UK.

How did no one notice this? Sachin Tendulkar was gifted this car in 2002. The car would have been registered with the Mumbai (Andheri) RTO also in the same year. As far as I know, the car sported a MH-02-AD registeration (with a VIP number).

This car which was bought by the Gujarat businessman has a MH-02-AV registration - that is of a much later year.

I am not doubting that this could be Sachin's car. But how did it go through 2 registration numbers?

There's an article in today's Mid-Day about SRT retaining the VIP number & the RTO issuing a new one to the car, for the new owner to take to Gujarat, post which he will re-register it there.

So the GTR costs way more than a Ferrari 458

Is is possible to retain the old vehicle numbers?

Sachin retained his number AD 9999 after paying a fee of 50,000 and has to claim it within 30 days. The no. on Ferrari got changed it to something like AV 4752.
But the buyer is in Surat so on whose name would the car be currently, unless the Buyer has some property proof in Mumbai.
