Getting rid of the X5 was OK as he had a better one before (E53), the E70 was just a normal 3.0 diesel with various ///M add-ons.

Does he still have the silver E46 325i? That was a nice car compared to the E90's.

The E53 X5 and the q7 4.2 tdi were both good and from what i have heard his new X5 will be a monster.

The E46 325i is no longer with him.

Let me clear the air. The Ferrari was not gifted to him by anyone, it was a paid for car and if i remember right Ferrari themselves had stated it was bought and the PR person handling M.S. mentioned he had not gifted him the car. The gift thing was mentioned to void duty on the car, but at the end a certain amount had to be paid to clear the car.
from what I remember the car was a "gift" from fiat to SRT for one of the feats he had achieved in the world he is a god of, and the prancing horse because - he was a brand ambassador of Fiat that time. (remember the firecracker palio - s10??)
the conspiracy that time was regarding who would pay the duty, as SRT refused to pay the duty as it was a gift, and Fiat refused saying that they are gifting the car - rest liabilities should be bourne by SRT. though after a lot of humdrum I remember SRT paying the duty.

I somehow still believe that the car was a gift - and SRT paid the import duty on it.

maybe my memory serves me right - maybe not

It should be upwards of 1.2 cr on road depending on the options on the car.

1.2 cr? I believe it must be way more coz a decently spec'd M5 touches 1.3 on road so logically 6 is slotted higher than that so must be much more expensive. :/

It'll be almost 2 on road. The 640d Gran Coupe was 1.2 before the duties increased. The M5 is now 1.7 odd.

Make that 2 - the X5 and the M5. The Steinway 7-Series is off the list.

On September 9 and 10, 2013, BMW India will conduct the ‘Sachin Tendulkar’s BMW Collection 24-Hour Auction’, an online auction of two BMW cars from cricket superstar Sachin Tendulkar’s collection on the Saffronart website. A BMW X5 along with the BMW M5 from the collection of Sachin Tendulkar will be available for sports and car enthusiasts to bid on. To make it memorable for the winners, the cars will be personally autographed by Sachin Tendulkar.
Will be interesting to see what the starting prices are.

Also, keep in mind that Sachin received his M5 before the budget -- and therefore even if it's sold at the brand-new retail price (of back then), it could still be considered as a good deal.

I guess the question is, how much of a premium does Sachin's signature add?

Re: Cricket Stars and their cars

Here's the expected pricing for Sachin's cars:

F10 M5 : Starting price = Rs 1,35,00,000 (expecting bidding to go till Rs. 1,85,00,000)

X5 xDrive 30d : Starting price = Rs 1,15,00,000 (expecting bidding to go till Rs. 1,65,00,000)

There's no mention of what year / what registration / how many kms run!! M5 link / X5 link

From point of view of a petrolhead, with such prices, why would anyone buy the X5?

Not everyone is a petrolhead and there are some crazy fans who will pay upsurd amounts to get a slice of their Idols for bragging rights. The bonus is S.T. will autograph the car as well. BMW is cashing in on his fame and fan following.
