That is exactly why I mentioned from the point of view of a petrolhead there. And coz he is autographing the car(wonder where), its value might appreciate in the future.

Re: Cricket Stars and their cars

The M5 has run ~ 1,000 kms only!

At a 1.35 Cr starting price, it sounds like a good deal regardless of whether you're a Sachin fan or not.

The X5 has done ~ 4,000 kms.

Rehaan, as I told you the expected was too too high, so not sold. "Reserve not met" I believe a price of 1.10 max for a preowned F10 M5

I agree. That too if it is Mumbai registered.

I think the days of paying a premium for a celebrities vehicle are gone. Most sensible buyers with that kind of budget will never touch a celeb car as most often they are badly maintained.
Ofcourse every once in a while a celeb could get lucky and have someone pay a premium for his/her car. Sachin got lucky with his Ferrari.

If i remember right his M5 costed Rs 1.35 new as it is not a loaded car and it came with the 19" wheels, which were later adjusted to the 20" wheels.

The Delhi black F10 M5 i was told sold to Kal for 80-90 Lakhs. In Bombay a F10 M5 asking was 1.20 and it has the works.

The car is Mumbai registered.

S.T. does pamper his cars and they are in Mint condition. Most of the fans and buyers are very sensible and also aware of the market values, some pay foolishly for bragging rights. Then again looking at the price that was asked for the 360 Spyder i think the person who bought ST's 360 did not go too overboard.

Re: Cricket Stars and their cars

Let me start with a question: If this M5 was sold today, brand new, how much would it cost?

I don't know the answer. I read that after this year's budget, it would be 1.6 / 1.7 Cr on-road? Is this correct? This is what I've based my reasoning on.

My assumptions are mentioned above - open to correction on that.

Maybe this also has to do with:
a) Not enough publicity around this sale?
b) Saffron clientèle not being the target buyers?
c) There was no 'hook'. Auctions that start low get more people interested and typically end higher than those that start closer to the expected sale price.

The way i saw it, this is a virtually-new car going for a good discount. (Wasn't factoring the Sachin thing in at all).

Definitely. Though it's different when it's a car that is symbolic / historic (vs someone's weekend drive for a month).

I guess it should be about that much or more for a standard car. A loaded car before costed appx 1.50 before.

Re: Cricket Stars and their cars

Below article from Autocar India features some of Sachin's cars. A car which caught my attention in the list was a BMW X5 M50d which is not officially sold in India & is the only one in the country & was specially imported by BMW for Sachin!

"Even the slowest car in Sachin’s garage is one of the quickest diesel SUVs in the country -- a BMW X5 M50d. The M50d is not sold in India, and this is the only one in the country. It was specially imported by BMW for Sachin, since the maestro didn’t want to sacrifice performance even in an SUV. How quick is it? The 2993cc motor launches it from zero to 100kph in 5.3 seconds."
WOW! Did not know ACI would write such rubbish. His second X5 was an E70 3.0d with an ///M kit. It only had bigger wheels with M steering and Gear lever, and they say it was the quickest diesel SUV in the country!!

Also does anyone here have any update on the 7 Series? Last I knew, he had a Black 730ld which was a Stienway edition which is the only one in the country!
