Hey guys thanx for the amazing responses. I have seen this beast and trust me, huge can be an understatement for this piece of machinery should be wider than the TATA 407.
Glad to know you guys enjoyed the pictures gives a boost to search for more

If the Indian army is considering the H1 for its usage, I hope they understand that it might actually be better to get TATA trucks rather than using an H1 which seats only 4 .

Question: Does the military version differ from the street version of the H1.
I happen to see one in the San Francisco Auto show and hence the question?

yes it does differ...the civilian version H1 is macho but the military version is a monster...wider and bigger and it doesnt seat 4, it i think has seat space on either side for about 6+2(this is only presumption) if i am not mistaken..

Uhhh pdev could you please specify which Hummers you are talking about. If its the black H2s you are talking about they are quite an old story now. Pictures are already on the forum. Look in the imports forum pictures of the H2 are put up by me ages ago

This seems to the first from lot of Hummers being tested by Tata motors or Ashok leyland for the sale to army.it will replace Gypsies,MM540's and Sumos being used since they proved to be unworthy.if produced and inducted will have a smaller heart compared to its american sibling and will be detuned due to poor fuel quality

So sorry guys, that I had to pull out a 3 year old thread out of closet.

Dippy,I think what you mentioned at that time was a UN supported and multiple company sponsored expedition that happened in India using a Hummer H1 (in 2005).

I searched multiple times on T-Bhp but could not find any thread that mentions this superb experience narrated by four guys who undertook this mighty expedition starting from Chennai and finishing there as well in about 60 odd days travelling to Kanyakumari,Goa,Mumbai,Jaisalmeer,Jaipur,Agra,Delh i,Hrishikesh,Allahabad,
Benares, then into Nepal, then back in India, then to Kolkata,BBSR and coming back to Chennai.

The details are all here in this link :
Hummer Expeditions

I am posting a few pictures from that expedition but credit goes to that link and all who were concerned with that expedition.

Just a question, how many H1's are there in India? Or are there any at all?
