Yes I agree this is a dream and I am happy I was able to achieve it. Believe it or not I have wanted a bright Red mini since I was about 3-4 years old when I saw a Red Mini for the first time in Madras and Calcutta.

I might take you up on that offer. Will definitely drop by sometime.

Thats definitely a well used little red car.

Also didnt know Calcutta had a OG mini cooper in red back in those days? I wonder if its still in the city.

Thanks for photographing my much-loved little red car.

I wish I had been able to meet up with various tbhp members at the event. But I am not able to put face to ‘handle’.

Incidentally I think this big BMW Bike lives somewhere this side of town. HSR, Sarjapura, Koramangala etc. Because this morning on my office commute I heard him long before I saw him and I moved my Thar to the side to give him way - that akrapovic exhaust is seriously aggressive sounding. He flashed past me on one of those Koramangala lanes. What a handsome looking bike it is. The owner is a good rider too. Good control. No OTT moves at all.

I know the owner and have seen the bike up close in the past. Has some lovely carbon fibre bits and is a running a Stage 1/2 (dont remember) remap.

The restaurant is called Lupa. Hard to say what cuisine, but largely European, just like the car.

Getting back to the car, I would wager that this one is amongst a mere handful of manual Porsches of its generation that were sold here, sadly.

Sorry this is OT but Im replying specifically to this post.
Madras had an old 1959 or 1960-1961 Red Morris Mini. I saw that car first in 1974 on Mount Road near the Cosmopolitan Club, with my Grandfather, when I was a small kid.
That sparked my absolute fascination for the Mini marque. Subsequently I saw it once in 1987 in Nungambakkam. And then again in 1999-2000 in Alwarpet. The last time I saw it (1999-2000) it was in a friend’s garage and he was buying my then White Gypsy and this car was sitting right there for sale - the owner wanted 1.5 Lacs those days.

Calcutta also had a 1959-1960-1961 Red Morris Mini.
I clearly remember seeing that car in 1975 or 1976 along with my Grandfather - it was parked at the Calcutta Cricket and Football Club when he had taken me there.

There absolutely must be several old Minis around India. Indeed there is one Green Classic Mini Cooper 1970’s model in Bangalore with a collector. The prominent Malayalam Film Actor Dulqer Salman also has a Classic Mini in Kerala.

So these cars live on…

A good selection of cars!

The June 25 meet was probably larger in scale. Ind gone with my Dad in my Green Gypsy but didn’t bother photographing my own car as there was a lot of other car candy. It only appears in the background in one or two photos.

Another Cars and Coffee meet up today July 30. Woodlands Hotel Raja Ram Mohan Roy Road.

Today’s July 30 meet I took my Cooper but again wasn't really bothered to photograph it there as there were several really nice cars including a rare Hyundai Genesis and a couple of the lovely AMG Mercs. I was able to meet some TBHP Colleagues today. Two Suhaas’s (one of whose Birthday it is today BTW!) and one Nikhil whom we all know as The Tyre Man. And of course RedLine Shooter my neighbour. And various members of the Old Maruti Car Club.

Last Sunday I did something I had been planning for a long time. I made time to drive to Sankey Road and visit the Porsche Bengaluru Centre.
And while there are lots of different Porsches there, I was floored, absolutely floored by this one, the 911 Carrera in Racing Yellow. This looks Absolutely superlative. And sitting inside it, I was transported to a different world in my imagination, back to being a child and making Vrroom Vrroom noises and all. Porsche, it gets deep inside and stirs one’s blood and does something to the brain, I don't know what. Beautiful cars. Sadly, they were not able to offer a test drive, this racing Yellow 911 being a ‘media car’ belonging to Porsche India. In any case Im not sure where in Bangalore one can enjoy this car. They said that this car in this spec would cost about 2.5 Cr on the road in Bangalore. So all I could afford in there was a cap with their gorgeous Crest. But no matter. These are the Dreams that keep one going.
