A friend's dad just imported a 5 series Touring into the country. Stays in Koramangala and is LHD. He says it makes 250 ps, so I'm guessing its a 530xi or a 530xd. Pictures coming soon.
EDIT: It's a diesel.

That would be an interesting catch on our roads! I've seen a Passat Estate but not a 5er Touring. And it would be even more interesting if it is an E28 or an E34 or even an E39 5er.

EDIT: Just checked, there was no E28/E34/E39 530xi/530xd. So it must be an E60 5er!

Are ya sure it is "just" imported? Have seen this quite sometime back in koramangala, couple of months back i guess. It is maroon in color (if we are talkin about the same). Couldnt snap it as it just ripped off. Was in temp plates that time.

I don't know whether "just" or not. I guess its still on temp plates. About the colour, I don't know. My friend said he'd be sending me some pics pretty soon.

The 5-series estate is a 535xD, puts out 250-odd horsepower. Here are the pics as promised. Blurred out my friend's face. Didn't blank out the plates sice they are temporary anyway. But how is it possible to import a LHD into the country without it being on carnet?
P.S. I really like the colour.

The first two pictures seem to have been taken inside Bangalore Club. That's a very unique and beautiful coat on the 5er Touring! I think it is possible to import a LHD car if it has been used abroad. There is something to it, but I don't know how it works.

Could someone enlighten us?

I've seen this Mini several times. In and around Jayanagar and also around Commercial Street (not surprising ). And yes, the lady is quite an enthusiastic driver! More often than not, I've seen her giving it the beans. The engine-exhaust sounds glorious despite it being a measly naturally-aspirated 4-potter.

Very nice pictures, by the way!
