Also, it said V8 Kompressor just behind the front wheel, if that helps the SL500/AMG ID debate.

Ive seen this car at the Cochin Customs along with a whole lot of other cars that were seized. This was lying covered and i managed to lift up the covers and get some pics before i got shouted at by some of the officials. Managed to get out of them that it was seized for having been brought as a lesser model than it was. Guess the owner was trying to pay the duty for the SL500 and instead of the 55 AMG. That explains the de-badging.If its on the streets now full duty must have been paid. There were 2 Range Rovers, a modded black impreza, an SC430, Volvo S60 and some minivans i forget which ones. Its right opposite Taj Malabar so all the kerela bhp-pians its a good place to check out seized imports.

Wonder what would happen to the poor guy if the officials read this!

Its confirmed a SL55. Anyways to be VERY sure:

Rudra Sir, is this the same car?! Pic from Speed Run 2005. I wouldn't be surprised if the plates have been changed.

You're right it was an S80, my bad. I used to have some pics on my phone, dont have it anymore. I dont remember the license plate on the SL55. But I'm positive it was these wheels, the same SL500 badge and the AMG /// stripes with no AMG lettering. It could have been cleared at kochi port and registered in Haryana to be sold in the Delhi market. I dont think it matters which port a car is imported it can be registered anywhere right? Theres a HR registered X5 which came via the Kochi Port.

P.S. Can you throw some more light on the e-auctions? Is there a site for it? I know the ports auction a lot of such cars. Ive heard about the STC auctions in Chennai

VW Touareg in BLR!

Bangalore sighting.......
So today near Promenade Rd. near Frazer town, I saw (with a bit of surprise) a VW Touareg SUV right behind me!! I did a double-take, cause I first thought it was a Passat, but then clearly saw that it was an SUV.....

the guy (I didn't get a good look at the passengers) took the same turn-off I take on this circle (to avoid the bottlenecked traffic, mostly) onto Promenade Rd. I even let him overtake me so that I could get a good look at the vehicle in its entirety...it was a pretty late model Touareg, so it looked real nice! (I know it's no Lexus/BMW/etc., but a new VW on these roads is refreshing)

As I was about to get my cam. phone out for a quick pic, the guy took off like a bat outta hell, way faster than "insert fast-Indian-market-car here" could!

I'm thinking that vehicle has somewhere around 400 BHP sitting under the hood , considering the VW Phaeton itself had 350!

You might have seen the V10 5.0L Diesel. With 750 Nm of torque that thing pulls like a locomotive. Its only a 308bhp engine though. There are no 400hp Touareg engines, except for a supposed W12 making 450hp. But I think its a limited edition only 500 vehicles. The majority of which is going to the gulf. Dont think there are any of these in India.

Guys spotted a Silver Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX today while returning home.
This was at sivananda circle Indian oil bunk behind the richi rich ice cream shop.
Looked absolutely gorgeous.
It was making small rounds within the bunk itself.
