Re: PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011

Fantastic pics guys. The Focus RS and the Corvette were surprising entries. And never imagined the T-Rex looks ultra-wicked. Thanks a ton for sharing the pics for the BHPians, who are not privileged enough to see them in flesh in downtown Mumbai !!

Re: PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011

Many thanks to the BHPIANS who covered this event.

The 458 and the LP640 were undoubtedly the show stoppers.
The colour on one of the r8's and the Bentley continental GT, was unlike anything I have seen before.

Also, it was very refreshing to see a Corvette and a Fusion RS on Indian streets.

Thanks once again for the wonderful coverage.

Re: PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011

A Fantastic way to spend a Sunday.. High revving super cars and great company. There were approx 60 cars at the event but still the turn out felt lesser than last year. Most of them were the usual suspects which come every year, the F430s, Gallardos, and of course the GS line up.

The car of the event was without doubt the F458 Italia. I was reserving my comments until I saw saw it up close in the flesh. It looks DIFFERENT buttt I love it though people may have varied opinions. Nice colour too but I would still have mine in Red. The white LP640 from Pune gave it good company. The pearl white paint, black alloys and red interiors was a killer combination but still the 458 looked in a class of its own.

The most beautiful car at the show? Yes the Ferrari 348. Nothing beats the sheer aura of this classic from Maranello. Beats more modern machinery hollow in terms of design. The Maserati Quattroporte S fitted with a Kreisseg exhaust was another attraction. An exhaust note to die for you'd love it to be the reason for going deaf. Music to the ears. Saw around 3 Gallardos and two red F430 coupes.

My ride for this year's rally was the Roller Phantom. A massive giant it may be but its no slouch. Mindblowing acceleration makes you wonder if this is an ultra luxury car you are seated in . Its younger sibling the Ghost gave it good company and there were a total of 3 Phantoms at the event. The Porsche flag was represented by a couple of Boxters, a Carrera cabriolet and a yellow Turbo. Only handful of BMWs at the event, member Kbk75's M3, an E46 M3 , a Z4 owned by member SSP and a 6 Series was all I saw. Not a single M5 at the show. A Continental GT Speed was the sole Bentley at the event.

The bunch of AMGs which usually grace the occasion were conspisious by their absence. The SLS was missed in particular. The only AMG spotted was the SL55. One of my personal favourites really.

Others at the event:

The TRex with a bike engine (The 14R powerplant) Looked ugly IMO.

I'm still confused with the defination of a supercar. A stock SLK, a Lexus SC430, a Jag XF Diesel??? There was even an old gen Cayenne Turbo at the show

Two Audi R8s. Looked great together. I especially love the copper colour. Sound nice too.

The Corvette C6. Superb in Orange with a removable T top. Classic !!!

The Ariel Atom. Nuff said !!

Ford Focus RS. What a machine and looks the part too

The drive started at around 10.30 AM, the route being from town via Walkeshwar, Nepeansea Rd, Breach Candy, Haji Ali, Worli Seaface, Sea Link, Reclaimation, W E Highway till domestic airport and back the same way but via Peddar Rd. However we took a U Turn right under the Bandra and the parked the Phantom on the Reclaimation stretch and chilled waiting for the other cars to come back. Though the drive was overall pretty good, the traffic was too much and there were so many people hanging out of their cars dangerously to take pictures and videos while others were obstructing the way of the Super cars. We did have a couple of close calls.

There are some nice pictures taken by my brother which shall be posted soon.

Now looking forward to the Blind Man Rally on 6th Feb.

Re: PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011

For me the best sounding modified cars were the Maserati Quattroporte and the GTR!! Man they are L.O.U.D. Also, there was another F430 with aftermarket exhausts and sounded very sharp.

The 458 was undoubtedly one of the best sounding but my God the 348!! Nothin can beat the decibels of that exhaust! At Teen Patti/Malabar Hills, the area was just echoing with supercar noises.

I was driving alongside the LP640 and 458 Italia for a good time. Both obliged me with some nice revving insideman and kbk75 also were racing each other for short intervals.

@insideman...your M3 sounded so so good and that was the first time I heard it. You might have seen my grey Polo with LTD sticker going alongside you guys at Bandra.

And a completely unexpected visitor : The Ford Focus RS! Whoever this dude is, he sure knows his cars[/QUOTE]

Re: PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011

A Sunday with the widest grin on the face

Since every car that participated has been catalogued from every conceivable angle already, let me put up only a few (and try to get some doubts clarified).
PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011-dsc_0143.jpg

The one in red-rectangle looks like a camera. Few more cars had something similar. What are these for?
PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011-dsc_0167.jpg

Was not expecting to see a Honda today. Which is this model?
PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011-dsc_0202.jpg

This guy chose to retract the roof at the perfect moment.
PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011-dsc_0269.jpg

Of all the people chasing the participating cars, I would rate this guy's chances of catching up with the supercars the best. But no helmet
PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011-dsc_0281.jpg

This Mazda came to the entrance of the parking lot, but did not enter. I don't think it was participating, but decided to join anyways. What is this model by the way?

Re: PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011

Although the Focus RS entered the venue, it was not allowed to park and was shown the gate. Guess it did not fit the requirement of a Supercar. But so did the SLK350, SC430 and an X6 3.0D.

The M3 and the 599 had roof mounted camera's.

There was an M5 (with M6 wheels) parked on Bandra Reclamation.

The RS probably parked outside cuz there wasn't any space left in the paddock area. It was one of the last cars to arrive.
Was the M5 maroon in color?

P.S: That was me in the grey Polo beside your Qualis

Re: PICS & Report : Mumbai Supercar Show, January 2011

Someone was overheard telling the security guards that the Focus RS cannot be allowed inside. There was ample of parking space towards the end of the venue where the white Phantom was parked along with the Mercedes CL and Cayenne.

The M5 was white in color.

Oh yes, I did speak to you and my bro did take a pic of your car with the LTD sticker. Nice meeting you.
