2005 Pajero in Kolkata - Drive from Dhaka!

Drove down to Kolkata this week on sunday with a friend in his 2005 JDM Mitsubishi Pajero 3000cc V6.

Took us 8 hours to reach The Park Hotel on Park St. Kolkata from Dhaka, Bangladesh including the time spent at the Benapole-Petrapole border.

The roads were good in general but the traffic was heavy on the indian end from Petrapole to Salt Lake via Jessore Road.

Here are a couple of Photos

Now this is what mitsubishi must bring to India to counter the prado.

I suppose the montero is the same vehicle with a different name. Please confirm.

Vehicles can be driven to other countries provided you get a Carnet de' Passage for your car. Basically its an International Permit for the car which is issued by the local Automobile Association. Here in Bangladesh its issued by the Bangladesh Automobile Association once you provide a bank guarantee which is equal to a percentage of the value of the car.

Once the Carnet papers are ready you simply hand it over to the customs officials who stamp it and then your're through.

You can find details more about the Carnet here:
