Re: Kawasaki Ninja 650R : Test Ride & Review

Hi fellows Ninja owners, My Ninja 650 2014 model, got under the water, and the speedometer stopped working. Everything is working except the display. Presently needing replacement. It cost a whopping 28k at the service center. Do you people know where I can source a cheaper original oem one, Bangkok/malayasia/ Singapore? Even if anyone has a spare, I am ready to check it.
Please reply with inputs as soon as possible. Thanks.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 650R : Test Ride & Review

To celebrate the 120th anniversary, Kawasaki motors revised the price of Ninja 650 to INR 4,97,420 from INR 5,37,420 (Ex-Showroom Delhi).

However the price revision is applicable on 2015 models only.

Since the reduced price is applicable only for the 2015 models, this looks more like an attempt to clear stocks rather than a celebration.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 650R : Test Ride & Review

Questions for those in the know.

Can anyone tell me if there is a likelyhood of a either the N. 300 / 650 being launched with ABS in the near future? Say even in the 2017 iteration? Anyone heard any rumblings of this nature?

Thanks

650 was launched with ABS internationally for 2016 models but, I dont think it will be launched in India anytime soon (Read that at least a year as their Versys is doing phenomenally well and eating up the market share of 650 and ER-6N)

Also, 300 anniversary edition was launched recently so I believe even that wont see a ABS version anytime soon

Technically manufacturers give at least a year for a new model to bed into the market before they start on the re-vamp drive which is also depending on its sales

Thanks for that update. Its really very disappointing that when bikes like CBR 250 etc are all sold with an ABS option at least, Kawasaki simply does not give this option (despite being expensive in its segment at least for 300) on its 300 / 650 models (other than Versys I think)!

I take it from your message that we are unlikely to see ABS right through 2017 as well on any of these models then?

FYI I called a Kawasaki dealer in South Mumbai and they were still not sure if the 40,000 price reduction was only on the 2015 N. 650 models or on 2016 models as well.

EDIT:

On a related note, any advice if someone is choosing between er6n and N. 650? Pros / Cons etc? Thanks

Kawasaki has always played the premium game but, we should forgive them purely for the reason that they are the only Japanese player who are serious about the Indian market and keep giving us their international products at almost the same time-frame

Well, that is how I infer as of now. I could be wrong so dont point the gun at me if they launch an ABS version next year

Whatever jargon the marketing folks use, it's purely a 2015 model clearance sale and now makes the N650 even more drool-worthy price point wise

Eyes closed, I would recommend the N650 as its a well-rounded beefy (as in faired) touring motorcycle and is an international as well as domestic hit

I never understood the purpose of ER-6N. No offense to owners but, it's a gawky and thin version in name of "naked motorcycle" and looks really uncomfortable to ride with its limited size (wheelbase as well as width wise). Never rode but, just thinking these aloud

Haha. I actually liked the er6n look. But to be totally honest amongst all three, I actually like the 300 best. That's the one I want to buy but simply can't justify the 4.25 lakh price in my head. I feel it's overpriced by at least 25-35 k.

I'm also concerned selling a 300 will take a bigger hit than selling a N 650 as 2nd hand customers will always kind of compare possible 650 purchase options.

2015 Kawasaki Ninja 650 now available at Rs 4.97 lakh

Quote:
Kawasaki India has dropped the price of its Kawasaki Ninja 650 by ₹40,000 bringing its prices down from Rs 5.37 lakh to Rs 4.97 lakh, ex-Delhi. The new price is solely for the 2015 model of the Ninja 650. This Kawasaki was the first motorcycle in the Indian middleweight segment and remains stunning value for money. India Kawasaki says the new price is part of the 120th anniversary celebrations for the Japanese company.
The Kawasaki Ninja 650’s siblings, the Versys 650 (Rs 6.59 lakh) and the ER-6n (Rs 4.71 lakh), are also available in India. The Versys 650 is an adventure tourer based on a modified platform of the Ninja 650. Kawasaki will continue to sell the 2016 Ninja 650 – no mechanical difference but updated paint and graphics – at the earlier price.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 650R : Test Ride & Review

The showroom typically orders it when you they deliver the bike with the assumption that you will remove the Saree Guard and install the grab handle. This is what my Kawi dealer told me when I took the delivery of the bike. They will install the handle once the bike is registered with RTO.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 650R : Test Ride & Review

Kawasaki has introduced the 2017 Ninja 650 at the Intermot show today.
Here's the link.

Love the new dash, it's got a gear indicator too. Apparently, 19 kgs lighter too.
No information available on the power rating yet.

Cheers

Looks like Kawasaki is following the same design pattern that is started with ZX10R special edition then 300 which was launched in India last week and now the new 650 will also wear the same dress

Keeping all the technical jargon aside, I'm glad they are introducing the ABS in 2017 which is best part of the whole deal

Kawasaki Ninja 650R : Test Ride & Review

Looks very sweet. I personally like the looks of the current 300 more than the current 650. The 2107 650 has fixed that for me in moving towards the 300 / zx10 in design language.

I hope they don't have a non ABS option so that we get ABS when it launches in India.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 650R : Test Ride & Review

Kawasaki has revealed the 2017 Ninja 650 at Intermot, 2016.

Quote:
There’re a new chassis and swingarm along with a new ZX-10R inspired styling which Kawasaki says has reduced weight by a staggering 19kg. It also claims to deliver 6.8 per cent better fuel economy than its predecessor.

On the 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650, the 649cc parallel twin engine has been retuned to improve low- and mid-range torque delivery. This has been accomplished with the incorporation of longer header pipes, 36mm throttle bodies, new air-box along with a new intake and exhaust cams. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch as standard.
