Well, even if there is not an 'exact' fit for the missing Triumph line-up, most bikers will probably settle for what's available and comes closest to their expectations.

What else can we do, wait and wait till Triumph makes up it's mind?

Husky's are far far away - 2015 and beyond!
KTM and Bajaj are already there. For the intervening 2 years. Even Honda is. Maybe even Yamaha (if they wake up).

And Doc - The talk was NEVER of small bikes! For that we have the Boxers and Platina's and Discovers!
I am classifying here manufacturers with bikes under the 800 cc ceiling overall, and the 400-500 cc band in the immediate future.

There are not very many established international players that commercially make bikes in these small engined configurations.

For instance, there are not very many decent 250 cc bikes around. India already has 3 of the best here (not counting the Hyosung).

The next class hop is the 400-450-500 cc bikes. Here the choice is greater. Marginally. India has nothing here. Yet. And this is where a large chunk of riding junta of the past 10 years will jump as the natural progression - given good options and choices.

The battle hots up in the 600-800 cc class, which is the next hop. Here India has currently just 2. But the lukewarm sales prove that India is probably not ready for this class yet (financially) and there is a huge opportunity waiting to be tapped in the in between class - 400-500 cc.

Doc - I was only talking about 600-800 cc range that there is nobody besides Ninja / Hyosung - am only talking about sports bike/tourers and not cruisers.

From above posts, will Triumph be able to sell ST and Daytona in Jul-2013 or not?

re: Triumph motorcycles to enter India. Edit: Now Launched Pg. 48

Triumph have updated their website http://www.triumph.co.uk/india/

Now they have listed models which they will (or may) be launching in india (Effect of Livemint news)

Street Triple (2013 model) is one among them . Probably their CKD plans are still intact & alive.

British PM visit might push their plans further, many sites are talking about their CKD plans now.

Ajay,

I hope this info is true. I was planning a tesd ride of XC 800 this weekend with an idea of bringing it over after 1 year (Bonnie may be on its way to Blore by this summer).

Though I will do the Test Ride, I think I will wait a little longer now.

One has to have some hopes - isn't it

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Ram

The worst part they've stopped selling Bonnie SE in USA & I'm not sure if this is applicable to rest of the owrld...
I'm not at all surprised to see this in INDIA they wanna dump all the left over from the pdn line at a cheaper price to Indian mass

Shrini,
Any reason why they stopped sales in US? is it because of old model and probably you folks can expect a new refreshed one? was it poor sales that caused this?

re: Triumph motorcycles to enter India. Edit: Now Launched Pg. 48

could be combination of lot of factors...
Thruxton the ever popular cafe racer & you got scrambler for it's uniqueness
T-100 is iconic by itself so I dont really see a reason on why would somebody buy a SE bcoz its rake is small & height/length pretty much that is a really small bike...
Have seen lots of left over from 2010-2012 SE's on many floors & their tag has been 6499$ ex showroom
Whereas a T-100 commands close to 9000$ ex showroom so does the scram & thrux

SE was like a step child neither here nor there with the alloy wheels sticking out like a sore thumb (to me). Bonnie Classic and T 100s have there own market and I can't see them going out any time soon (may in smaller numbers though).

Best Regards & Ride Safe

re: Triumph motorcycles to enter India. Edit: Now Launched Pg. 48

Speaking as a late '60s Bonnie lover, and as a former W650 owner, the only deal breaker for me, for the modern Hinckley Bonnie, was the kink in the pipes.

And for that one reason alone, I thought that the SE looked nice, with it's up-swept megaphones ... especially the Pacific Blue / Fusion White combination. ( http://media.popularmechanics.com/im...e-430b-040.jpg )

Alloy wheels and megaphones on a Bonnie might be heresy to some ... but to each his / her own.

Having said all this, I particularly liked the T100 when it was introduced for the 100th anniversary year, in Lucifer Orange. ( http://www.mcnews.com.au/newbikecata...ville_T100.JPG )
