At the cost of the Triples? There goes any hopes of a ST (again!)

Unless this corroborates with the information from www.visordown.com

Not at the cost of.

From what I hear (read actually) this is a "developed in India for developing world/recession hit EU" type project and is already well underway.

I agree man. This ST wait, then 390 wait, then 300 wait, is getting nasty.

Further juices liberated reading about the Ducati Hyper Motard (I recently had small glimpses of what this bike could do).

Kuch to launch karo bhai ....

Cameron came, Cameron gone and we have great news from the budget as well regarding imported bikes.

Any positive outcome of Cameron visit (from Triumph perspective)??

The one you guys are lusting over is less than 800 cc so you're safe!

I thought Triumph is going the CKD route and the duty revisions are on the CBU models .

From what I gathered:
The initial bikes to hit the shores will be CBU(imported from UK?), so we can expect the prices on them to be marginally better because of the duty revisions. After they get their factory all setup, they'll start rolling out the CKD bikes; which in any case would be much cheaper than even the revised CBU bikes. So I guess its good news for those people who want the bike at the earliest..

Sorry but I didn't quite get this. Isn't CBU going to be more expensive than CKD?

Yep CBU is most definitely going to more expensive, but for those who were hell bent upon getting the bike during its early launch, its "better" prices.

Since Triumph is setting up a manufacturing facitility, they can import limited number of bikes initially as CBU by paying reduced custom duty (not 60% when imported as CBU from thailand).
Later on once they start assembly operations, they need to pay 10 or 15% duty as they are importing CKD kits from Thailand (Reduced duty because of FTA with Thailand).
Now the factor which will hit them is Rupee at ~54 per dollar. If this stabilises say like near 50 or 52, they can price ST in range of 5.75 L to 6 L ex showroom.

Subject: When triumph when

Dear working comittee at my most loved brand.
I come from a motorcycle crazy breed of people who crave for better products, but are starved for choice. I have done a short stint in the UK and i have seen a few examples of triumph products there. Since the time of your India entry announcement. I and many like me have been waiting with much anticipation to hear something positive on the launch front, but all that we got here was.... a very long wait. I have known people in my circle who waited for your products but finally moved to others.
We are already in the 3rd month of 2013.... and now I too am planning to buy and would be in the market shortly. Please please dont let this enthusiastic anticipation turn in to helpless frustration.
Hoping to hear something positive on the front of launch dates.

Warmest regards,
Sagar Chitre

You know something schitre05. I sent Triumph Motorcycles a mail enquiring in more detail about the Bonneville. I got this exact same reply via email. Could it be possible that all mail from India is replied via a automated reply robot?

No. There is no Robot.

Some days back i had posted following text on team-bhp:

'Triumph have updated their website http://www.triumph.co.uk/india/
Now they have listed models which they will (or may) be launching in india (Effect of Livemint news).
Street Triple (2013 model) is one among them . Probably their CKD plans are still intact & alive'.

I got a mail from Triumph the next day:

Hey Dhananjay,

Just saw your post on team-bhp and had to smile. It’s just coincidence that the site was updated after the Livemint / Indiancarsbikes articles.

We haven’t made any announcements and won’t until we are certain of getting a quality launch and being able to supply bikes to customers which will be later this year. This note is really to say thanks very much for your continued interest and support on the forum!
