Re: Triumph motorcycles to enter India. Edit: Now Launched Pg. 48

So I was in London last week and couldn't resist visiting my favourite motorcycle store located quite conveniently central - stone's throw from Vauxhall station. Super one stop shop where you can buy everything from a range of motorcycle gear as well as check out numerous bike brands (new and used) such as Honda, Vespa, Ducati, Kawasaki, Yamaha and of course Triumph.

I had purchased my riding jacket, gloves and half face helmet from this store sometime in 2010. This time around, the only thing I purchased was a basic round neck Triumph T shirt.

My primary focus was obviously within the Triumph section but on an unrelated note, I have to say I sat on the Honda CBR500R and the riding position felt absolutely spot on for me personally. I can't wait for this bike to be launched and for the first time since the launch of Triumph was I actually so keen on checking out any other bike.

So here are the pics in no particular order. Hope you enjoy them.

The store from outside.

That's the typical number of bikes each individual brand has within.

And here's the Honda CBR500R. Absolutely perfect ergonomics. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to TD it when its launched.

Hope you have seen the pictures of the Triumph Stores in India in this thread - Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kochi, Chennai and Mumbai

At least in case of Triumphs, your wish I think has already come true and to be fair the stores I mentioned above will give a run for money to many stores in Europe and UK.

Metropolis - of course is right at the top of standards and has the advantage of being a multi-brand store as well.

Best Regards & Ride Safe

The stand alone showrooms are fine, almost all prime manufacturers (cars and bikes) have them in decent form. I meant in reference to the context of Axe's post - the humongous multi-brand stores/showrooms with so many different offerings one would go crazy. Perhaps, a long way to go to see them in India my friend.

Cheers

Has anyone seen thruxton like clip on handle bars on a regular Bonnie SE? I assume that should be an imminently doable and straightforward mod right?

Can anyone advice which Triumph bike is right for>
  • Relaxed weekend & long cross country rides
  • First time rider - never had a bike before, only scooters
  • Safe solid reliable performer, not looking for thrills

So far I have been only considering the TB 350 & Honda CBR 250R.

You haven't mentioned budget but considering the above factors, the entry level Bonneville SE sounds like the perfect fit.

Thanks, but considering it would be the only bike I may ever buy, I didnt want to limit myself by a budget.. but 5 lakhs would be the limit.

The cheapest triumph is about 6.5 lakh. So completely open question is somewhat moot.

If 5 lakh is a more or less hard limit, perhaps you can consider bikes like the Ninja 650 or HD 750, both excellent bikes in their own right. A still cheaper bike that's fantastic could be the N300. If you can wait, you can also consider the Honda CBR500R which I'm told should be pretty newbie friendly.

Looks like you have unknowingly honed down on a Triumph Bonneville SE and I can vouch for it as I own one

1. Due to its riding posture its extremely relaxed to ride and perfect for those long cross city rides ( have done a Hyderabad-Bangalore-Hyderabad) and is very comfortable and can munch miles with ease

2. Ride the Bonneville, thats exactly what you will feel. You will never feel your a first time rider. It's that simple. Within 30 seconds, i got used to this bike. Cant say that for a lot of bikes out there

3. Reliability is the "middle" name of a Triumph Bonneville

Well, the only problem is your budget. You will have to up it to 6.72 Lakhs on-road if you want to own this bike

Cheers and Goodluck !!!
