Suzuki launches the baby Intruder M800!

Liked the voluptous lines of the M1800, but fell short of the moolahs? Worry not, coz Suzuki has just launched the M800 at a not-so-high 8.88 lacs! Pegged at 279 kgs, this V twin would be 70 kgs lighter than its elder sibbling. So, handling would be bit easy.

I say Suzuki made this move, seeing the growing interest in sub-10 lacs cruiser segment, dominated by HD. Given the dough, I would go for this model for its sheer presence and appeal.

This was in the pipeline for a while and its good to see companies now looking at smaller engines at affordable prices. I do hope they go this was even for the sport bikes and bring the 600 or 750's. This is something i can live with everyday.

was able to fish out some technical specifications on the M800. Looks like a decent performer and can pack a punch compared to its colonial cousin HD...

2010 Suzuki Intruder M800 specifications and pictures

Somehow felt that the price tag can be controlled better

yep generally Cruisers carry a 5 speed gear box cause of the wide ratio which helps the engines generate more torque rather than a closed ratio setting of the race bikes...

Re: Suzuki launches the baby Intruder M800!

Totally off-topic:

No one knows what Suzuki's intention here in India is. They've launched a few low-CC bikes for the masses but never take the pain of marketing them. Their showrooms are least bothered with sales and customers (from my observance), their website is maintained by some snoring away - no one responds to your queries. A few months ago when the dealer said there was no Blue available in GS150R I emailed Suzuki asking them to confirm the same, never got a response, I dropped my plans to buy a bike.

Now, their GS150R page hasn't been loading for the last few days: http://www.suzukimotorcycle.co.in/GS150R.asp
I mailed them, no response. I guess they are only here for the big bucks

I am not too much into 2 wheelers, especially the more than 1.5Lac ones...but is this true? 279 and 340 kilos - On indian roads it would be nightmare! These #s are not suitable for the average Indian frame (5'11, 80-90Kilos) - these bikes are for typical 6.5 foot, 120-160Kilo western biker guy!!

How would you know about all indian bikers?
180kg old modl bullet with 3 80kg guys on it.i dont think you have to sweat to ride in such a case.average indian bikers have been doing it forever.
Some very average build people ride 500kg 600bhp
bosshoss ,as far as west is in question.
even Gals ride 280kg HD.
As long as saddle hight and cog is good, weight isnt a problem.there is no weight lifting contest where you will have to lift your bike overhead.
My only problem with this bike is 50odd bhp and 60odd nm for 10lac bucks(onroad),i mean it looks wow and all,but even after paying somuch ,buyer will face comments like 'its just a cheaper underpowered cousin of a great big bike 'M1800'.

Re: Suzuki launches the baby Intruder M800!

@ svsantosh : That is one of the most absurd comparisons i ve ever read in context to bikes and bikers. You start your sentence with " i am not into bikes " and end it up by commenting on the entire biking community. Weight and height has little to do with ability , skill and passion. Get onto a bike , ride it and if you find it hard it does not mean its hard for every biker riding a superbike.

The price seems to be too high for this. Earlier speculation was in the 6 Lacs bracket. Now hope the Ducati 795 is not priced now in the same 7-8 Lacs... That way, Ninja 650R seems the better and only option for now

Re: Suzuki launches the baby Intruder M800!

i rode the previous version of this bike two years back in Dubai.. the shifts were a bit cranky, it would struggle to get to neutral, and it sounded like a unicorn on steroids... the sound was a BIG let down!!!

at a price tag of 8.8 , OTR will cross 10 . and there are plenty of options for customers in that bracket.
+ this wont be as huge as the m1800 which is the bikes USP

Sasikiran, from initial feelers it is estimated to be around 5.5 lakhs Ex Showroom, adding another 20% makes it possible for the bike to hit the roads at 6.6 all included. But the million dollar question is about the future of ducati as it is very turbulent at this point in time, considering the fact that showrooms in Delhi & Bangalore have been shut down.

Re: Suzuki launches the baby Intruder M800!

it's boulevard M50, the sport version. I have the classic version (C-50) with almost the same style and specs and I can tell you, it handles much better than the bullets I have ridden at half it's weight.

The only problem you would have with it's weight is if it falls down, or need to take it under a closed railway crossing

PS: I weigh 60 kg.

Re: Suzuki launches the baby Intruder M800!

On a rational note, I find this bike had been over priced by Suzuki India. I know its absolutely illogical to judge/compare bikes based on price/power, but i cant help but say 10 lacs (on road) for a cruiser (no matter how exotic or appealing it is) which produces ~53 bhp is a tad too high! and it has drums in rear.

To put things in perspective, an FZ1 would give you thrice the power for the same money. yeah yeah.. i know, its like comparing chalk and cheese.. bnut still.. 7 lacs (On Road) would have been icing on the cake!!
