I was searching for the 412-4051C in the amazon site and I can see that the specific model is only available in 12''
Whereas, another model 412-4061C is available in 13''. Will it be a suitable fit? What is the difference between two?
Also noted that 412-4061C model is available upto 13.5'' size. I am not sure whether this will be suiting the superlow in terms of fitment.
Can you please throw some light on this?

The 11.5" I think is stock on the S/Low, so if you go up, go to 12.5/13 max... this is my recommendation.
As you raise the rear, the bike gets 'twitchier' and faster steering, which is not a good idea on a bike thats meant to cruise.
Secondly without raising the front, by using specific damper rods from HD, which only a few Service centers can help you with- I would sugget you doing this_
If your riding load is consistently over 200Lbs... then go for the 4061 series shocks of 13"
Fit the shock on the softest setting, and then work you way to stiffer every 500Km...

Contact VPM in Cochin and ask him for help with the rear suspension- tell him KD sent you ;-)

Any idea how to decode the month of manufacturing from the VIN/Chassis of Indian market Harley Davidson? I could decode the year and model details using the Googled information but could not decipher the manufacturing month.

I noticed "05-15" etched at the end of VIN on the steering head- so I presume it is the manufacturing date.

One question for experienced Harley rider- how do you back-off or push it reverse in the parking? Unlike Bullet, there is no grab handle to catch on to!!

Congrats on the new ride! yes 15 is the manufacturing year. To decode the VIN, read your owner manual thoroughly.

how to back-off, 2-3 ways

1) Have the strongest of calf n thigh muscles coupled with amazing shoulder muscles, biceps and triceps.

2) Seek help from a fellow rider to push the vehicle back (Harley naysayers laugh at this)

3) Park judiciously, so you won't have to back off or you can just ride off.

Ride safe! Hope you got all appropriate gears!

Would rather park it judiciously so that you actually ride off rather than backing it or asking fellow riders to push the bike for you

If that were to be possible all the time, I don't think anyone would be deliberately waiting for someone do the "Brotherhood" push.

I don't see anything wrong in asking a fellow rider or a friend for some help in pushing. Remember you are riding heavy bikes and not everyone is Arnold Shivajinagar.

How do you guys get rid of rattle from OEM fuel tank cap on Iron 883? On bad roads it feels like the cap will dislodge itself from the tank :).

EDIT: one more question- what is the utility of the belt/strip on Sundowner seat between rider and pillion (see the pic of my Iron two posts back)?

That I what the Pillion holds on to when you accelerate. Doesn't really work out though except for someone really slim

- Never heard of that rattling issue while I had the Superlow or even with the Heritage (fuel tank caps are same throughout).
- No utility at all afaics.

It has been discussed in other HD forums too (just google) , for example http://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-g...ap-rattle.html I felt this rattle on the test Iron too. Probably need to check with workshop at first service.

Hmmmm. Seems like a issue with your fuel cap. I have ridden nearly 15k kms on these Harleys without any such issue. Better get your cap changed under warranty.

The strap on the pillion seat is what you are asking about then it helps in holding and pushing around the bike in the absence of grab rails.

How are you doing?

Not quite sure if the strap actually has that much of quality or rigidity to balance the weight of the heavy machine.

Doing well fellow city dweller :) Hope you are too.

The Z800 has a similar strap and it helps in moving it around, especially if needed to be pushed back. Not certain about the quality of the Harley one though.
