Re: Ducati on the block! Mahindra, Hero, BMW and Audi go for the kill

Great news. Hope one of the first things they do is kick out the Indian distributor like Audi did 2 years ago, and put some professionals in place.

There is hope for Ducati in India yet.

Cheers

Ride Safe.

Re: Ducati on the block! Mahindra, Hero, BMW and Audi go for the kill

So the Italian brand didn't fall into Italian hands after all. First Lamborghini, now Ducati.
Hope Audi/VW management brings up Ducati experience better, the prices asked for some Monster spare parts elsewhere on T-bhp were extortionate !

Also, will be interesting to see the marketing campaign , depending on Audi or VW alignment - will we get ads stating Das Motorrad soon ?

Humm I wonder what would happen with their AMG partnership now. And their joint events/ sponsor sharing with Ferrari.

All in all, a very good news. Germans have taken good care of all foreign brands they bought (Mini, RR, Bentley, Lamborghini etc.). Hope to see even more advanced Ducatis soon

Is this why Ducati came to India in the first place? To launch bikes, build up a brand image and then have the Indian biggies like Bajaj, Hero, Mahindra gunning for a stake in falling empire.

Ducati Sold to Audi for 1.12 Billion !

Well that surely sounds good for Ducati. With the financial backing of the parent VW group , Ducati seems to be in safe hands for now . Not to mention , VW group has another exotic brand in its kitty. Lets see how things unfold for brand Ducati in the coming times . This could give a boost to the Ducati operations in India too.

Well I hope Vw looks at a motorcycle business in a different way compared to running car companies. And i further hope the italian engineering doesn't get eroded by the germans. Too bad Mahindra lost out!

Re: Ducati Sold to Audi for 1.12 Billion !

It is a nice news that finally Ducati landing in hands of a group that dealing in automobiles. The company was owned by investment banking groups for a long time. For VW Group's top brass Ferdinand Porsche, motorcycling is a passion so Ducati may touch new highs under his ownership.

But not everyone is happy about group's decision to buy Ducati. Even Mr.Martin Winterkorn reportedly said that "Red is beautiful colour but...........".

The BMW group may face competition in the future from VW Group.

Mahindra was not in run for acquire Ducati. But Hero MotoCorp was actually bid for the Italian marquee. Probably the owners might have thought Hero may shift manufacturing base to India and will result in job loss in European plants.

Audi to buy Ducati

Audi of Germany is buying Ducati.

Lets hope that Audi allows Ducati to do what they do best without directing it into unprofitable ventures.

Of course I wouldn't be unhappy if Ducati came out with a couple of nice smaller aircooled singles like the Ducati 250 Monza and the Ducati 350cc Sebring.

Re: Ducati on the block! EDIT : Audi buys Ducati for USD 1.12 Billion

Quote:
Audi completed the 860 million-euro ($1.06 billion) purchase of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. and named its CEO, Rupert Stadler, to the motorcycle maker's board.

Audi Chief Financial Officer Axel Strotbek and executive Horst Glaser also will join the Italian manufacturer's board after the transaction was completed today, Bologna-based Ducati said in an e-mailed statement.
Quote:
VW Chairman Ferdinand Piech has long coveted the brand. He publicly expressed interest in buying Ducati in April 2008 before eventually losing out to Investindustrial. The purchase will make Ducati the 11th brand in VW's portfolio, alongside supercar marques Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti, mass-market brands such as Seat and Skoda and heavy-duty truck manufacturers Scania and MAN.

Such a soft and easy buy when you think Deccan Chargers is out for sale for $ 15 billion.
