The wait is over! Kawasaki has launched the much-awaited 2012 edition of the Ninja 650R in India. Priced at Rs 4.99 ex-Delhi, the 2012 Ninja 650 promises to reignite the fight in the 650cc segment. Sporting a liquid cooled 649cc DOHC mill which produces 72PS and 66Nm of power and torque respectively, the new Ninja subscribes well to its sports-tourer tag.

Cosmetically the 2012 Ninja 650 gets a sharper look, adjustable windscreen visor, new instrument cluster, new exhaust, a taller tank, split seat and revised suspension setup.

Bajaj says that they currently have 62 KTM-Kawasaki dealers in India, the largest dealer network for premium bikes. The Ninja 650 bookings start from August 14 with deliveries to begin in 4-5 weeks. Currently there are no plan to launch a naked version in India.

If its 4.99 ex-Delhi, then for us here in Pune, Bangalore, etc. this would easily nudge if not outright go past the 6 Lac OTR barrier right?

VAT component is different in different states. Add the difference which is between 2 to 2.5% and some additional transportation charges.
IMO in bangalore exshowroom could be some where around 514000.
Add a road of 13% and an insurance of 12000 (i am not sure).
Onroad should be around 5.9 to 5.95 Lacs.

Pune guys are lucky to get it for around 5.6 Lacs OTR.

Bangalore price:

Ex Showroom - 5,08,271
Road tax, Registration and 1st year insurance - 79,217
Smart card - 300

Total OTR - 5,87,788

And the old priced version OTR was for how much?

Somehow for me the main USP of the N650s pricing was that it was the only mid-sized performance bike available legally in India, with service and parts backup, within the 5 Lac bracket.

Its a psychological thing, but its there. Like the Bata 99.99 ..... :)

The 2011 model was for 4.57 lakhs ex-shw Delhi. So its an increase of 40 odd grand. The Maharashtra people should get it for about 5.6 lakhs OTR while Karnataka will be about 10-15 grand more IMO.

Cant wait for 14th August to go & put the money down on this baby. Need to start haggling with the finance companies until then.

Called probiking bangalore and they have not received confirmation from bajaj about bangalore prices and bookings as well.
Sales guy asked me call him tomorrow morning and according to him the OTR Bangalore is 5.85 Lacs

I read in Motoroids and MotorBeam that its priced lower than the previous model.

With these international marque bikes, they bring out a new version every year.

If every year they jump the price by 40-50K, its not going to work out methinks.

For them or us of course.

Road tax in Maharashtra is 6%. No Octroi in Navi Mumbai and Pune.
Road tax in Karnataka is 12.5% + Cess.
I could have bought it from Pune if we had a one india policy w.r.t registration rules. Honestly i don't feel happy to pay such a high tax in KA considering infrastructure level/quality are bare basic. It is good or ok near bangalore and goes from worst to pathetic in north karnataka.
Roads are much better in and around mumbai. Also the taxes charged are much lower IMO compared to KA.

I got an information that only green will be available.

Impossible. These guys have shabby editing teams. I still have the quote for the previous model from the dealer somewhere at home.

The price increase is quite justified considering how the rupee has been beaten black &blue in the past 6 months. Also, the duties on CKD have gone up from 10% to 30%. Finally, the price for the 2012 model is more than 2011 model by about $300 even in the US.

These political parties will never let the GST tax proposal see the light of day.

Well for me the most disappointing aspect is NO ABS for now, which is a bare minimum neccessity for a bike of this size. Not sure when our status will elevate from a 3rd world country. This bike is not for price conscious but for those who value heart more than head :D. Also ABS is a total paisa vasool as even if it can stop 1 fall it will save 30-40K easily.

Common Bajaj- Give Indian life a bit more value :Frustrati

ASAIK, 2012 Ninja 650 does not have ABS. ABS comes as option only for the 2013 model.

Talk was on that they will bring in the 2011 model with ABS as this was the only major upgradation between 2011 and 2012 model. And they will bring it in some time as per the current announcement.

Regards,
Maddy

The Ninja 650 must be coming to India in CKD kits. Any updates whether Kawasaki plans to put up a manufacturing plant in India soon? Things can get real cheap then clap:
