Tyres for Superbikes

A friend of mine, based out of Secunderabad needs help in procuring a replacement tyre for his CBR1000RR (The old tyre has gone bad due to age and lack of usage)

He has mentioned the following considerations:

Michelin Pilot Power 2CT 190/50/17 ZR
Pirelli Diablo Corsa 190/50/17 ZR

I am willing to get it in Mumbai, and ship to him as well, however, with my current limited knowledge of Bike shops and few trips around Grant Road, I have not been able to source either of these two options.

Can one of the members suggest some places where we may find these products?

As always, thanks in advance.

Re: Tyres for Superbikes

Talk to this dealer. The tyre shop is in his neck of the woods and should be able to arrange for SBK tyres.

Alternatively, Chennai is closer than Mumbai. He can just remotely order from this dealer who is apparently a specialist in Superbike tyres.

Wow, that was superfast! Thanks GTO, I will communicate with both of them, and in case I run up against a wall, I will post back. Thanks again.

Re: Tyres for Superbikes

The easiest way to work around is this is to ask your friend to place an order at the closest Honda workshop that services superbikes. They may be marginally more expensive than a Michelin retailer but should expectedly have comparatively fresher stock over Michelin stores as Superbike tyres are possibly the lowest turn around products for these retailers.
Also, whilst purchasing, look out for the 4 digit code on each tyre. That determines the week and year of the tyre being shipped out of the factory. Whilst anything from the current year is welcome, do not invest into tyres that are older than 12 - 14 months.

Thanks for the Tips guys, and thanks for the 4 digit code information (I went through the detailed thread as well), however we have had no luck in sourcing the tyres at those two dealers. Any other dealers who we can contact? Mumbai/ Delhi is not a problem, we have the transportation angle covered.

Zulfi of Bachoo Motors said he can arrange a set of Metzies for about 26K. You can call him on +91 98206 26246.
Another option is Metro Tyres at +91 22 23076436. They too have stock of the M5 at 26.5K!

Thanks manson, but my friend is stuck on a michelin or a pirelli only. A met is his last option, if nothing else works.

@Latentpotential, you could try the following dealer in Delhi. Seemed to be well stocked and ships all over India.

Kaulsons.
Tel : 25893-777, 25896-777 & 3058-7777
E-Mail : kaulson@vsnl.net
Website: www.go4krp.com

I recently sourced a Metzeler Tourance and a Distanzia AM43 from them.

Cheers.

Thanks, will check with them right away! My friend however has also started discussions with another dealer in HYD to import the tyre of his choice.

You are welcome. Then instead of asking dealers to import a specific tyre which, in my opinion might be fairly expensive, why doesn't he look at ordering it online directly via DHL? They are prompt, take straight 35% duty at your doorstep.

Re: Tyres for Superbikes

I know am waking up a 3 month old thread but am specifically looking for Michelin Pilot Road 3 in bangalore or chennai. My busa is up for a change and this time i dont want to go for a Pirelli or Metzler. Compared to the michelin PR3's on my friends bike these tires are very low on grip. Any good leads will help
