It's the production-ready 2013 Vespa 946, inspired from the 1946 MP6 prototype.

I'm skeptical if Vespa would launch it in India, but if they did, it's gonna be a style statement..

..and I'd kick myself for being so tall to look awkward riding this.

The engine is Piaggio’s three-valve air-cooled 125cc Single which has also found its way in other 125cc 2013 Vespa scooters. Piaggio claims an output of 11.7 hp at 8250 rpm and 7.6 ft-lb. at 7000 rpm from the engine. Piaggio also claims the new three-valve engine offers a 30% improvement in fuel economy over previous models while service intervals for the engine are now every 10,000 km (6,213 miles).

Marvelously cute and it is bound to attract a whole lot to the scooter segment. The 946 to commemorate 1946 is also spot on for this wonder. But not in India, if true, would be an anticlimax.

Scores greatly on the cuteness factor but on practicality and that too in Indian conditions, its way low. I agree with Scorcher, very skeptical it will make way in India. The pricing it self will put off the Indian customers.

Agree with all of these statements!
Indians look for more storage space, F.E along with the price they pay for.
The design aspect and the looks would be second priority. Yes, the 10k oil change interval like cars, would be a plus though.
I am talking about the regular 'janatha' who form the major chunk unlike our 'breed' of enthusiasts.
Bleek chances to make a good Bussiness case for huge numbers in Indian market.

Also, currently the scooter market in India is having a big vaccum after the bajaj scooter being stopped from production.

The model is sleek and stylish, which even youths can think of driving. [Bajaj scooter was typical uncle generation vehicle].

I think it can be a great success.

I clicked thinking the same. Even after looking at the pic(which is droolworthy) I looked at the engine specs, if by any chances a super scoot....but alas.

The Italians sure know a thing or two about styling. This is just fantastic. I will love to ditch my bike and ride around town on this. When I first read the title I thought wohh a Vespa with 946 cc engine :-) then I read in detail its a 125cc.

I looked at the "946" and then "Superbike" section and clicked wondering what kind of Superbike has Vespa developed?!

946 is a very cute model from Piaggio and will make a great impact. In India the re-entry of Vespa has redefined the attitude of owning and riding scooters again.Pricing will remain a key factor for 946 to be successful in India.

If Piaggio would launch this in India and price it honestly (something they failed to do with the LX 125), this wasp would eat up all the other scooters for breakfast, including its stablemate, the LX 125.
