Voted 'No'. A bigger bike like Harley, affordability aside, expects a lot of responsibility and skill. A crash on a Unicorn/ZMA may be controlled or even escaped by a new rider, but an overwhelming machine can be difficult to manage even for an experienced rider. If at all you are keen on biking, buy something manageable, either 150cc crop or zma, and ride it for at least 10000kms.

Not too long ago I remember reading thread on team bhp how a person had bought a bike > 5 lakhs, he posted his happy experiences, then he crashed and damaged himself and the bike, and then sold off the bike. A new biker on a powerful bike is much more probable for making a mistake and risking his/others life. Please learn on some small bike first.

Last year I saw a Bangalore registered Harley at the Shell Pump in my area. Two-three working class guys on Activas and the like had surrounded him and were questioning him curiously. He was answering them patiently and they were nodding. I heard one fellow in the group regularly punctuating the rider's explanations with "Bullet maadhiriyaa? ( I see, like a Bullet?)" , much to his annoyance and to my amusement!

Poor chap, the ultimate and most expensive machine in his imagination was the Bullet, and it was incomprehensible to even think of anything higher!

congrats on the thoughts! You will love the Duke and the CBR experience!!

And regarding "Bullet maadhiriyaa!!" I would equate that to the hindi idiom again "Bandar kya jaane adrak ki swaad" (How would a monkey know the taste of ginger?)

Even when I got my Duke, these kinda folks used to ask me

RX modified-aaaa?
Chinese bike-aaaa?
Bald tires -- saar -- second hand bikeaaaa?

And my answers to them would be --> Yes to all.

To one guy I even put up an exasperated look saying - Oh my god, I got cheated mannnn! I got duplicate baaald tires. I am going to the dealer right now and ask for new tires! Thanks for pointing out saaar!! :D
