Huh? Z1000 is priced at 12.5L ex showroom, right? With Road Tax, Insurance etc, it will be more. And WagonR is half the price! Or am I missing something here?

Even though Niranjanrvce is slightly off-mark, he did mentioned "pre-taxes" as taxes contribute to 105% of actual cost of these bikes as they are CBU

Great to see Kawasaki on a war footing to release a wider range of bikes in India !!!

I hope the price of these bikes comes down when its mass produced and built locally.

Would these bikes be available from Bajaj Pro biking showrooms on order basis. It would be hard for people from other states to get these vehicles serviced.

I think you missed the "pre-tax" part. He meant the tax imposed by the Indian govt on imports/CBUs.

The Z1000 costs $11,999 in the USA. At an approx Rs 7.2 lakhs thats equivalent to a Swift/i20 in India.

The new Z1000 really appealed to me.

It is a piece of art. Really beautiful. I will definitely go in for it once the finances are in place. I hadn't seen it in flesh till today though it was on display at the showroom. This morning while waiting for a few members of my biking group at the RTO pump, I expressed my desire to own the Z1000. It was 6:30 AM. Little did I know what was in store for me in the next couple of hours!!. We set off for Lonavala around 6:45. We were 6 bikers accompanied by family members & a few friends in 3 cars. We took the PCMC-Dehu-Talegaon route. I was cruising at around 50 kmph as the village started as soon as the bridge ended.

Just as the Dehu bridge was about to end, a bike overtook me. It was as brand new. Even the Number Plate was completely blank! Not even temp no. It sounded good. The twin exhausts & the tail lamp looked lovely. I recognised it immediately. The mighty Z1000! The rider was wearing a Helmet, Jacket & Gloves. No Riding Pants or Knee Guards. He zoomed past me in a jiffy. I slowed down to admire the beauty but... all of a sudden I noticed a regular Indian bike cut across the road a few meters in front of me. And then it happened. These 2 bikes collided & went skidding for a good 20-25 feet. I saw sparks flying till almost the entire duration of the skid.

I pulled up to the side & ran across the road to help them. There was a lot of oil on the road. Both the riders were up on their feet almost instantly. I picked up the bike & tried to push it to a side but it did not budge an inch. It was in gear but the clutch lever was lying on the ground. So was the right RVM. Meanwhile my friends too joined me. A small crowd had gathered. Even the other rider came to us, his face partly covered in dust. We tried for a tempo but were told none would be available till 9 AM.

Thankfully none of them were seriously hurt. Somebody handed me the RVM. It felt heavy. Quite solid. Meanwhile I checked out the bike for the first time. What a looker! It was Grey & Green in color. The front & back are equally well designed. We did not wait much & left almost immediately. The bike was just 4 days old! Pity my first encounter with the Z was in such a way.

From what I can see our very own forum member @sidbp just recently acquired a Z1000 and he lives in Pune too! There's a thread in the assembly line regarding the same.

Whoever it is, I'm glad they're not hurt. Also wouldn't insurance be a hassle now since the bike didn't even have its plates on?

Note from Support - Please avoid quoting an entire lengthy post as it inconveniences our mobile and small screen users.

I was thinking of the exact same thing, I really hope it isn't sidbp's Z1000,
I read his thread on his Z1000 before it got taken down(possibly due to editing) and it seemed so inevitable that he was enjoying his new acquisition and had posted such lovely photos as well.

The Z1000 certainly has the looks to kill for but pricey. Well, all inline 4's in India are anyways. Let's pray that the Z800 is priced within 10 lakhs. This directly competes against the fz1 and cb1000r doesn't it?

If I remember right, the rumor is that it would cost just 8.5lac. Let's see.

Actually 105% is Custom's duty charged on imports. Technically duty is just that, a levy, not a tax. But semantics aside, in the normal day-to-day colloquialism, "pre-tax" implies prior to sales tax and road taxes. Both are state levies. Cheers.

If a person from Bangalore wants to buy and register the z800, should he buy it in Pune and bring it down to Karnataka with tc plates and register in Karnataka or he can book it through probiker showroom in Bangalore?

Buying it in Pune seems to be the only way. I was looking at the Z1000 and 800 but the probike showrooms in Bangalore do not sell them. I've been told that a new Kawasaki showroom is opening in Bangalore in a month or 2 to sell them but till then getting it from Pune seems to be the only option.

The only problem in getting it to Bangalore is that the Z800/Z1000 or the ZX10R are not listed with the Bangalore RTO so far in their system. Hence someone has to take the one-time pain and apply to the RTO for listing the bike model. Post that its a simple job of buying from Pune and registering it here.

Bangalore and Chennai showrooms to open by April 2014.
