What an ordinary looking bike the 750 is! There is simply no magic in it. I am looking for a replacement for my Eliminator. But not this, not this, is my first reaction.

At this pricing Triumph and Hyosung better watch out. It has got all the bells and whistles for a street bike; good ground clearance, two up seat, comfort shocks, liquid cooled, upright riding position. Can't find a :Frustrati fault at this price... :D

Triumph buyers would not even look for a 750 Harley as it's a different class with a lot more power. Most of the 750 Harley buyers will be people who want enjoy the Harley culture on a tight budget or as an upgrade from RE.
But hyousung will definitely take a hit. Who knows it might close out with the introduction of the 600cc Hero!

Curious to know why Triumph buyers would not look at Street 750? Aren't they both in the same class? CC wise, cruiser class wise

HD 750 -- 65 Nm of torque at 4000rpm
Bonneville - 68 Nm @ 5800 among other things?

Particularly when the pricing is almost 20/25% less

At this price (very nice .... for a Harley) there are going to be a lot of crossovers from potential Bullet buyers. Exactly what I predicted originally when I first entered the thread, before the debate that ensued. I would for instance stretch and pay 2 lacs more for a 750 cc Harley if I was in the market for a Bullet currently. I feel it would be value for the extra money spent. Its a good price. So then what is the 500 going to be priced at? 3 lacs? Man that is Harley REALLY taking the fight to RE. Make no mistake guys, that's what they are eying - RE's now significant pie. Triumph may be all wel and good to pit yourself against aspirationally - but what does Triumph sell compared to REs in India? I am just so happy that the guys in Chennai are going to get awoken from their monopolistic attitudnal slumber.

Why is the Street 750 priced aggressively by Harley standards?

A- Because it has sourced many crucial components including even cylinder heads and engine components locally here in India!!

Parts like front forks, swingarm, body frame, cylinder head, engine parts, brakes and tyres, have all come from Indian manufacturers. Just doubt whether Indian manufacturers can give that Made in USA quality although the Harley management assures that quality is their topmost priority. But a MRF tyre can certainly not match the Pirellis, is what I feel. No offence meant to anyone.

yep almost entire bike is made in india at their haryana facility. The one that will be sold in united states will be assembled/manufactured over there and it also costs around 1000$ more. The indian made bike will be imported all over asia and europe.

Based on the only review so far(of a street 500 ) , the critic passed an average rating saying the 500 is weak(only 33bhp while 750 is 46bhp) and while 90% of the bike is on par with HD quality , a few things here and there looked cheap (fork gaitors being one , also the radiator is not seamlessly fitted with the frame). But this was a pre production bike so an american saying most of the bike is on par is defo a good thing. Price is low because there is no chrome and also margin is slimmer as compared to other bikes so that more people can buy the brand . The real moneymaker will be accessories sale .

Basu any indication on what the top speed is? I would be very surprised if it tops 140.

About the bike on the other hand ....

"Pulse quickening acceleration to 110 kmph" ..... I checked to see if they were not describing a 200 cc single instead of a 750 cc V-twin.

That's one very moribund pulse.
