Yeah electronics failure cannot be predicted in anyway! The least the dealerships could do was stock some of these instead of running after the part once there is a breakdown.

At least some sensors, some mech parts etc. The story is similar across brands! The delays are killing and frustrating!

Hope there is not much of a delay in procuring the part!

Tell me you did not get those types back home?!!!

No Doc definitely not these types. At least not the ones I knew. Did you know at one point of time in the 80s, Trivandrum had the record for maximum total number of RDs sold by the Escorts dealer. Even now you will find at least 5o RDs in TVM in good running condition

Plugs were a big issue then. With NGK laways in shot supply, sometimes you make do with good old MICO thay gives up the gost too soon.

But with RD you had the confidence that you can ride on with one cylinder only as long as you do so with a soft right hand.

Finally relieved to get my Bonnie this afternoon. The ride back home did wonders to the soul. Hoping to ride this Sun for the next breakfast ride.

re: Triumph Bonneville Discussion Thread: My "Black Bruiser" is SOLD :( !!!

Impressions from the ride after first service
-------------------------------------------------
1) Took the Bonnie out for a short ride to the local Shell station for a tank fill on Sat in preparation for the Sunday BRAT ride.

2) Bonnie handled okay in city traffic although a bit heavy at extreme slow speeds. Sometimes getting to Neutral is a bit of an ask.

3) 230 km round trip on Sunday morning was a scenic ride, kept max speeds at 100-120kmph to enjoy the view and twisting roads.

4) A first attempt to start after the break fast point post Kanakapura (at about 70km) failed, although the restart with the choke ON worked.

5) The relay failure is still playing in my mind. Hope this never happens again and the memory fades away.

Looking for some pointers brethren:
1) What brands to pick up for Chain cleaner and lube?
2) Anybody got their bikes washed at the local bike jet wash shops?
3) How to keep the chromes shining?

The fact that the bike started with "Choke" mean that there is niothing wrong with your bike, the issue looks like in your right hand, i.e. giving throttle at the right time. I am saying this as a probable reason - as you said that you fueled up from shell and hence the fuel quality issues are ruled out here (please be aware that at times this happens for the the fuel quality issues as well).

In a EFI set up, what you call as "choke" is not a choke in the coventional sense. Its just an idle speed increaser. The choke sign is there only to complete the retro illusion.

Question on washing - please ensure that the water jet is pointed downwards - from above the seat level, in the area around the side pannels and the EFI. Best is to do a mannual was on a regular basis, unless she gets that dirty like out on pouring rain and slush.

Wash the chrome area with a mild solution of car wash liquid (I use a mild solution of the dish wash liquid from the kitchen) and wipe dow dry with a soft dry cloth. It will keep on shining.

5 years down the line

2. I have warned you of Bonnie T100 handling being not that great. Infact, one T100 owner is regretting buying it instead of Bonnie SE. There is a massive difference in handling between these two versions

4. Ram has advised you very nicely. Initially when the bike is new even i had to revv it a bit during cold starts. Nothing to worry at all. After completing 8500kms, i can say that there was not a single time the bike didnt start nor had any niggles till date. Reliable to the core

1. Buy only MOTUL chain cleaning and lubing bottles. Both cost ~ Rs.1000 and use them anywhere between 500kms-750kms

2. I regularly (atleast once or twice a month) get my Bonnie washed at a local bike wash point ( not even those fancy joints) and dont give them any specific instructions as well. Never faced any problem

3. There are many products in the market that you can use. Will check the Bonnie T100 owner and let you know the name of the product he owns because his bike shines so much that it really hurts my eyes

re: Triumph Bonneville Discussion Thread: My "Black Bruiser" is SOLD :( !!!

Yesterday, 10 BRATs rode to Hyderabad to enjoy some true blue Hyderabadi Biryani and I was happy to organize the same for them and also got around 15 HRATs for this meet

1200kms of riding in a day to eat biryani. Shows how popular it is

Their ETA was 11:30am and they wanted to eat biryani and depart back to Bangalore by 1:30pm at the most

But, due to some issues they could arrive at Hyderabad House only by 1:00pm and due to this delay many HRATs left early and some of us left the place after meeting them and not joining for lunch after ensuring they are comfortable and their special order of Biryani and Boti Kebabs were placed

10 Bikes and 1 Skoda Yeti formed the BRAT group. 2 Rockets, 1 Daytona, 1 Tiger, Rest all were Bonnies

Just before reaching the hotel, one of the rider fell down and broke his little finger. He seemed in a lot of pain, hope he went back in the Yeti and is doing fine

Thanks Avi and Ram for responding to my queries..

Thanks Avi for posting the BRAT biryani ride photo as well. I am sure that the biryani was worth it. Plan for the HRATs to come down to Bengaluru.

We rode to Bangalore way back in April ( in hot summer) and I dont think there are any plans to ride to Bangalore this year. But, will keep you posted whenever it happens

We Hyderabadis take pride in our Biryani and honestly speaking Hyderabad House biryani isnt the best out here. But, they were specific that they didnt want to enter the city and wanted to eat somewhere in outskirts so there was only this place I could think of

There is another place right opposite which doesnt have a good ambience and is known as Green Bawarchi ( their biryani is better) but, after such a long ride, good ambience, comfortable AC environment is something iam sure every rider craves

Nevertheless, it must have been better than any "Biriyani" served in Bangalore

Pawan. Wonderful to know that you have done Pune-Tadoba-Pune. Was it a 1000kms round trip? Which dates were you in Tadoba and did you spot any cats? Do share more pics

Btw, last pic of you riding is lovely. Who took it?

1200kms isnt exactly iron butt'sh style. There were plenty of stops.

IB challenge is indeed designed to bust your butt

re: Triumph Bonneville Discussion Thread: My "Black Bruiser" is SOLD :( !!!

Hey mobike008, once again, thanks for the warm welcome to the BRATs and for organising the biryani. The BRATs had a great ride, despite the minor issues. The Aluminium butt title is indeed similar to the Iron Butt one, but since 1150<1600, the title name was slightly changed.

The bikes part of the ride were 2 Rockets, 1 Street, 1 Daytona, 1 Thunderbird Storm and the rest Bonnies. The backup car, also driven by a fellow BRAT was a Skoda Laura
