Although retro motorcycles have become all the rage over the past few years, retro style has long been part of Harley-Davidson’s image. The motorcycle manufacturer released two models Thursday that it promised would deliver old-school attitude paired with modern-day performance: the Low Rider and the SuperLow 1200T.
The Low Rider – back after a five-year production hiatus – is a reprise of a popular model of the same name that was introduced for the 1977 model year. Powered by Harley’s Twin Cam 103 engine, which burbles through a “throaty” two-into-one exhaust, the new Low Rider features dual disc front brakes, five-spoke aluminum wheels and classic, simple-is-good Harley looks. The seat and handlebars are adjustable to accommodate riders of all sizes.
Occupying the lighter end of Harley-Davidson’s touring bike range, the SuperLow 1200T comes standard with locking saddle bags, a detachable windshield and Michelin Scorcher 11T touring tires. Powered by the 1,200-c.c. Evolution V-Twin engine, Harley said the 1200T was nearly 120 pounds lighter than its lightest Big Twin touring bike. Harley said this model was built based upon customer feedback that called for a better fit for longer rides.
The two new bikes, which come to Harley’s lineup only four months after the company unveiled its urban-rider-oriented Street 500 and Street 750 models, will be shown off for the first time in public at Bike Week in Daytona, Fla., beginning this weekend.
Harley says the Low Rider will start at $14,199 and the 1200T will start at $11,799; both models are already arriving at dealerships.

Personally I loved the Superlow 1200T. It has so much more chrome, touring lockable saddlebags, removable windshield, Rider Mini Footboards, Michelin Touring tires, docking points for sissy bar and luggage racks, Chromed engine covers, chromed speedometer, Better rear shocks, higher ground clearance and 2 up seat, ALL as standard. Would love to see it soon in India. Ideal size for our crowded roads.

Man that bike looks the part! Perfect for India(hoping it has enough GC). Are they getting it here? (Perennial question of mine: Does it have ABS?)
