Yamaha recalls YZF-R1 for replacement of headlight lead coupler

Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, Yamaha has recalled its flagship motorcycle in India, the YZF-R1. The recall has been issued to change a lead coupler in the headlight which is overheating and melting, which in turn, can lead to arcing and result in short circuit.

The recall pertains to YZF-R1 bikes manufactured between October 2008 and August 2013. Yamaha will replace the headlight sub lead on the affected bikes with a modified one. This replacement will be carried out free of cost. The company has advised customers not to use their bikes till the headlight sub lead is replaced.

Owners of Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycles can find out if their bikes are eligible for the recall by accessing this link and entering their chassis / frame numbers.
