It seems to me that those displays show the traditional Harley Engine and not the new RevolutionX.

Anyways, I was asking because it doesn't have the usual Harley beat? (potato potato)

Re: Harley-Davidson Street 750 : Official Review

Today I heard that some guy in Pune already crashed his Street 750 bike at a high speed:-(

Another reason for the earlier HD owners to crib about the Street 750 riders!

You are right- the barrels and crankcase in the display case are not of the street 750. So safe to assume neither is anything else.

What does the VRod have? Reports say that the 750 sounds like the VRod.
In any case a 60 deg V, even if single pin will sound different from a 45 deg V.

Hahaha, but it's nothing new. The whole Harley "experience" does indeed revolve around satisfying the attention quotient.
By the way when we speak of BRAND, most of the times it is about attention garnering ability of the brand.

Nothing wrong if HD plays on the exact thing that leads customers to their stores ...

I think this is the draft manuscript.

The final training manual mentions "strap customer supine on test bed and give tattoo on body part of choice."

This apppears just before and above the point where they mention cladding the customer in official Harley protective gear.

How does the V angle influence sound?

V-Rod is also a 60 deg with single pin, LC and 4 valves per cyl. Looks like the Street is intended to be more of a baby V-rod than a baby Fat Boy. Makes you wonder why bother with single then?

Firing angle. (I don't think anyone is going to take a 60deg Vtwin and stagger the pin to mimic a 45deg angle.)

Actually its not the V angle that determines the sound but the ignition sequence. Or in other words, the sound that we hear is the sound of rapid expansion of gases exiting the cylinder during the exhaust cycle.

Say we have one cylinder and I write down the Otto cycle for it:
0(intake)-0(compression)-0(ignition)-1(exhaust)
(0 = no sound, 1 = thump)

Two cylinder?
first cylinder 0-0-0-1
second cylinder 0-1-0-0
Final sound that we hear? = 0-1-0-1

What if the firing sequence was different? Say:
first cylinder 0-0-0-1
second cylinder 0-0-1-0
Final sound that we hear? = 0-0-1-1
(this is the harley sound - galloping horse hoovebeat)

Very different from the previous case.
Does it depend on the V angle? No.

So the point is that V Rod or Street could've quite similar Harley sound, but they didn't chose it for perhaps vibrations issues.
I guess a Mechanical Engineer is required to corroborate my point.

Good to know that cylinder timing (ie the timing relationship between cylinders) can be easily/ trivially changed.
