Re: Kawasaki's H2R: New Supercharged Ninja!

Im not very aware of the regulations of Moto GP. Can they not use this for their Moto GP aspirations?

The motogp rule book does not state any restrictions on turbochargers or superchargers. So I guess that the designers found tech to be 'not worth it'! No idea about the reason though!

http://www.motogp.com/en/MotoGP+Basics/bikes

I believe that the H2(R) might not be a nimble machine among the other motogp machines and it will be something like a Veyron amongst bikes. That said, just read today that Drag racing champion Rickey Gadson will be racing H2R soon, possibly a replacement for his current 14R!

Re: Kawasaki's H2R: New Supercharged Ninja!

While the general visitor pages don't state it, I think there is a prohibition on forced induction, as in F1. I see no reason why it would not be used, had the rules allowed it; they do want more power from as little weight after all.

Now after the Darth Vader-like H2R, it's piqued my curiosity if the standard street legal variant will be as exotic/menacing looking and whether it will retain all the bodywork with wings/spoilers. If that bike takes a slide, the fairing replacement will cost a pretty penny.

Re: Kawasaki's H2R: New Supercharged Ninja!

This is pure madness. I love the people at Kawasaki. They think of a mad idea and go ahead and convert it into production .
The new zx10r took the game forward , the zx14r won on the bhp numbers and now this. Surely this is not street legal but the fact that they have a street legal version ready is great. It would definitely be down on power and have other necessary components added but I dont see any current crop of superbikes holding a candle to it.
Good job kawasaki.

Re: Kawasaki's H2R: New Supercharged Ninja!

Now one can be sure that a street legal version is coming. Kawasaki has teased the street legal version the H2 along with the track version which is the H2 R.

Here is the video

Some people claim that the street legal version will make only 200 hp. I find that difficult to believe because the present ZX 10 R already makes that kind of power. Maybe 20 bhp more? Since the wheel base is not very long it will handle well and with the supercharger just leave even the ZX10R and the ZX14R dead in acceleration terms. Exhaust seems to be two into one and therefore there appear to two end cans. But the picture is not too clear so it could be 4 into 1 into 2. Guess the wings will be replaced by mirrors and somewhere in that Darth Vader face will sit the headlamps. Can't wait till 4th November.

Hot damn, that is a beautiful piece of machinery. Enough edges on it to slice you to ribbons!

I love it when the folks at Kawasaki go full-on like this with their designs.

Re: Kawasaki's H2R: New Supercharged Ninja!

THere are 2 versions available. H2R producing 300 bhp and the H2 producing 250. H2R is approx 65000 USD and H2 is a road legal bike slated to cost 30000 USD.

Its fake. See the comments below in the same thread. I thought so as well after the frame being shown as made of high-tensile steel. On a bike this premium, I would expect an AL frame.

Re: Kawasaki's H2R: New Supercharged Ninja!

This is the street legal version of the lethal Ninja H2R. It is the Ninja H2 and those expecting this to be exciting will perhaps be disappointed because it makes just about the same amount that a ZX-10R makes (probably a bit less even) after boasting of supercharging. Wonder if Kawasaki knows something we do not. If that is not the case, it is a lot of brouhaha about something very ordinary.

Re: Kawasaki's H2R: New Supercharged Ninja!

Well the H2, for me, was a complete disappointment. 210BHP at a 240Kg Weight? Come on! I was never exited about the 300BHP the 'R' version made. But what I found exiting was the fact that if that forced induction motor is successful and practical in everyday life, eventually the tech will trickle down to the smaller displacement motors rendering them more powerful and economical. But I cant see the benifit of supercharger in the H2 while almost all other manufacturers has broken the 200BHP barrier without a forced induction and a much (MUCH) lower weight. :(

Kawasaki's H2R: New Supercharged Ninja!

Same figures, but at what rpm? And what are the torque figures? Have they revealed it?

How can we call it a disappointment without knowing these?

210hp is insane enough for the track, forget the road. I am more interested to see how early it develops the power and how mental the torque is!
