Edit: http://kawasaki-india.com is now updated with Z250 and ER6n. It was funny to see them adding ER6n in Z series and not Ninja
I think Pune is still some 25-30K cheaper right?

Launching the parallel twins without ABS even as an option is hurting to say the least. I honestly think that having another variant of the Z250 and the ER6n with ABS as an option doesn't really hurt buyers.

Yes doc. Z250 should be ~3.3L and 5.3L for ER6n in Pune. I would say good pricing for Z250 but they could have priced ER6n lower by 20K.

In fact from where I stand I do not see the position of the Z250. Its an engine that has been replaced and upgraded. Why would someone spend more than 3 lac rupees on what had already been phased out? Why not simply give it the 300 cc mill like its faired sibling? Anyways the 300 cc mill barely holds its own sales wise against the Duke 390. And the 250 just does not have the grunt of the 300 - something most naked buyers would be having pretty high up on their list of must haves. This is a backward step in my opinion. It frankly baffles me.

I agree. The naked 650 under 5 lacs would have been a very enticing option for a number of people. Even when the Duke 690 got launched.

I kind of agree with you there doc. Kawasaki, methinks, is probably just expanding their product portfolio with the Z250, and poaching on whatever sales the Inazuma might get, as a by product.

The 6n, however, makes for a very practical street bike IMO at that price point and also reduces damages to the pocket due to the absence of plastics. But with the launch of the 690, I hardly doubt if it will still remain a value proposition.

With the Z250 , Kawasaki has an impressive line-up starting right from a quarter-liter to the ZX-14R. But i'm a bit perplexed by the way that Kawasaki deals with our country. Still not a manufacturing unit?? Hard to understand the mystery

Also due to the CKD route the bike (Z250) is priced more than 3 lakhs which unfortunately makes a person compare it with higher displacement bikes like the Duke 390. I think Kawasaki must seriously get out of their hibernation and start considering India as a serious prospect.

The Z250's design is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, but the package would have been enhanced if it had more substance beneath.

A 300cc mill with the current pricing. I promise, I would have got myself one.

I second that, the retail price of the Ninja 250R prior to being phased out was in region of sub 3 lacs, a naked bike based on same platform should have been priced less.

Re: Kawasaki Z250 and ER6N launch on 16th October, 2014

How different is the Er6n to the Ninja 650? The engine, gearbox, power and torque figures seem to be identical. So is the instrument cluster and switches.
is it just the lack of front fairing and different seating position? Is the gearing shorter for street use? How does it actually feel as compared to the faired one? I Google it but couldn't find reviews of the 650n. Any real world reviews would be helpful.

Re: Kawasaki Z250 and ER6N launch on 16th October, 2014

The Z250 looks awesome in pics. So i went to KTM Adayar showroom in chennai to check out both the bikes on17th oct but couldnt see it. Today got a text from the showroom guys regarding price, Z250 On Road costs about rs. 3.37L and ER -650n about rs. 5.37 L.

I kinda feel the price is on the higher side and they are missing out on essentials like Abs.

I understand its not only CKD it is also 40% localised? with that 3 lakhs is too much of an ask. Anything between 2 to 2.5 should be right price.

While comparing costs between say a KTM Duke 390 which has more localization in it's manufacturing than the Kawasaki Z250, I understand that items like CKD and other taxes would bump up the price by a margin but do you think that we would also need to take into account the fact that the Z250 has a parallel twin cylinder engine. I would be interested in knowing the price difference between a single cylinder and a twin cylinder engine motorcycle.

I remember having this same query when I was deciding between the Honda CBR250 and the Kawasaki Ninja 250 and I remember reading in the forum that the difference in the construction of the engines was also a factor in the pricing of the motorcycles.

Bharat, in my opinion, Kawasaki charges too much premium for their brand.

Previous generation Ninja, with fairing with the same engine was priced 3.0L - Now a naked with same engine, and parts shared with N300, priced at same price?

Will take it (as Sheel pointed out), if it comes with same 300cc mill

Inazuma is a much better bike (except for the looks). I have driven previous N250R earlier, and the low end torque is non-existent. May be they've done some work with gear ratios.

Re: Kawasaki Z250 and ER6N launch on 16th October, 2014

I was in the Kawasaki, Pune showroom yesterday and one of the SP's told me that the Z250 will have some price corrections as the Kawasaki officials feel the price that was announced during the launch was a little too high.

So if this news is true, I guess the Z250 will be priced at 2.6-2.7 lakhs ex-showroom post the price correction.
